Its the final proof of something we all knew but the UK govt are still denying!

Today Rupert Murdochs right wing biased Sky News conducted a poll of their viewers. The question posed "Has Tony Blairs foreign policy in Iraq been a cause of increased terrorism, (in the UK)"
The results at the moment 80%   to 20%   YES.

With the anti war movement gathering momentum in America, driven by the brave Cindy Sheehan and her supporters; and now British Conservatives finding themselves unable to keep up the pretense, perhaps we are at last seeing the beginning of the end for Blair and Bush.
If the American and British people become so sickened by the conduct of our respective governments that we demand resignations, I hope that we don't simply "drop the pilot", but look for symptoms of the deeper malaise.

Could be time for a complete re-evaluation of our way of life and how we are to come to terms with future environmental degradation...Ake

Ake -

As much as I loathe both Blair and Bush, I sometimes wonder if they are making decisions based on the ability to supply oil but it is, I believe, control of the pipelines they covet.

If we were to cut our consumption and find sustainable alternatives to oil, there might not be the need to fight endless wars on our behalf. Of course, the industrialists still need oil, so the wars will continue in spite of what we do.

In Canada we have the 'one ton challenge' which is an effort to decrease the greenhouse gas emissions of each individual by one ton. This may help but you have to wonder about those jets.

Water and sources of energy are being consumed at ever increasing rates. Canada has lots of both but they are being privatized and bought by Americans. No need for the States to invade Canada when they can buy our Country, control its resources and turn around and charge us for delivery.

Basically, it gets down to the consumption and greed of the U.S. If they can't negotiate a fair deal, they just take it and the American consumers back them up. Canadians just sit there and let them do it. Britain's been doing the same thing for a very long time. Control of resources is the name of the game.

I think it will take not only the will of the people but individual action to stop over-consuption. In the meantime, lets hope protests to stop the killing of civilians in Iraq (as well as U.S. soldiers) will be the end of U.S. aggression.

dianavan, that's irritating. When will you Canadians learn to take responsibility for your own actions? As owners of said resources, you are in control of how much your neighbor can acquire.

It is just as valid to say that the situation is due to the Canadian lust for money.

Or in Shane's case...for beer and loose women.

The only thing such a survey proves is what the public think they think, based on what they think is data which they have acquired.

Ebbie - Yes, it is irritating. But as I have stated, Americans are gaining control of Canadian resources and Canadians are allowing them to do it.

As the recent decision regarding softwood exports to the U.S. shows, the U.S. does not honour its trade agreements and will probably never re-pay the 6 million dollars it stole from Canadians. Americans take what they want. Even when international courts decide that unfair trade has occurred, the U.S. ignores it.

So much for NAFTA.

There's more to the story than that, dianavan.
