To "Jim Still looking...."

The correct title of the song you have just posted (redundantly) is KENTUCKY HILLS OF TENNESSEE. It was recorded by Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen on the album "Hot Licks, Cold Steel & Truckers' Favorites" (described here at Allmusic.com, and here at Wikipedia). The album was originally issued in 1972 on the Paramount label and reissued in 1988 by MCA. The song was written by William C. Farlow, Jr. (known as Billy C. Farlow), and Michael James Richards.

Several used copies of the album are available at Amazon. (Please use amazon.mudcat.org)

TAKE ME BACK

CHORUS: Take me back to those old Kentucky hills of Tennessee,
Where the mockin'bird is singin' high up in the laurel tree.
Let the Alabama moon shine her light on me,
Way back in those old Kentucky hills of Tennessee.

My Daddy was a rounder. he wore a rounder's hat and coat.
He used to strum a banjo, though he couldn't play a note.
My Momma used to tell me, with a smile upon her face,
"If you want second helpin's, son, you'll have to say more grace." CHORUS

It was just a year ago, I took out on the bum,
With only 14 dollars, a suitcase and a gun,
But now I am a rich man, and there's one thing that I know:
The place that I long most to be is a place where I can't go. CHORUS

Now if you ever leave your home, and loved ones far behind,
Someday you'll open up your eyes and see that you were blind,
'Cause if there is a heaven, I know where it will be:
Way back in those old Kentucky hills of Tennessee. CHORUS

So glad that other people remember this song.

Anybody ever tab out the chords? Won't be the same without the piano, but would be nice to sing around the campfire....

KENTUCKY HILLS OF TENNESSEE (Richards-Farlow)

CHORUS: Take me back to those old Kentucky hills of Tennessee,
Where the mockin'bird is singin' high up in the laurel tree.
Let the Alabama moon shine her light on me,
Way back in those old Kentucky hills of Tennessee.

My Daddy was a rounder. he wore a rounder's hat and coat.

That would be great, D. Someone on another site (country music site) is looking for both words AND author.

Sorry.

One reviewer called it Old K H of T
and Paramount calls it K H of T.

"Take me back to those old Kentucky hills of Tennessee
Where a mockin' bird is singin' high up in the marrow tree.
Let the Alabama moon shine a light on me,
Way back in those old Kentucky hills of Tennessee."

Found this posted on another site. Might help people search. Can't find the author, though. I would suggest it was from the band. That's a guess.

Before I dig through my stack of vinyl & try to extract the lyrics;
On the Commander Cody album "Hot Licks,Cold Steel,& Other Truckers Favorites"
I'm not sure of the song title,or who wrote it.
Maybe "Kentucky Hills Of Tennessee"
Part of the chorus goes;
"Take me back to those old Kentucky hills of Tennessee,
    Where the mockin'bird is singin',
High up in the laurel tree,
Let the Alabama moon ,shine it's light on me,
Way back in those old Kentucky hills of Tennessee.

A Google search on C.C. only seems to turn up lyrics for "Hot rod lincoln" & "Down to seeds & stems again"
