Myself and a few volunteers from the former Borderline Coffee House are attempting to bring folk music in a non-profit venue back to Rockland County, N.Y. where I live. Our first venture will be on Saturday night November 19th and will feature Geoff Kaufman from Mystic Seaport. A doctor friend of ours has offered his rather large house for the venue and I am personally putting up the guarantee money for the performer. I hope that this will be the first of many more folk concerts that we can promote in this area. Those of you who live in the New York metropolitan area and would like to attend or volunteer can PM me off the board with your e-mail address and I will send you the concert flyer in Jpeg. format. Knowing the type of performance that Geoff gives, I can personally guarantee an enjoyable evening for all.

What a great performer to start off with. I met Geoff at Mystic Seaport and since then he has come to Anchorage a couple times. Give him my best regards when he opens your new venue. Congratulations, Sol, its always good to hear about a new place to perform.

Thank you all for your good wishes and congratulations. I hope that you will all spread the word to your friends who live in our area. I would like to give Geoff as large of a crowd as I could. He is a really nice guy and deserves it. I have known him for the past 30 years & he has great rapport with the audience.

The concert is upcoming THIS SATURDAY NIGHT, NOVEMBER 19TH. Although we have a very good advance reservation list for a house concert, we can still accomodate more people. I am working with a good crew of volunteers, many from the old Borderline Coffeehouse. We hope that this concert will be the first in a series of many that will bring non-profit folk music back to Rockland County on a regular basis. We want to give Geoff Kaufman as large of an audience as possible. I urge everyone who wants to have a fun evening, and who is in striking distance of Rockland County to attend. I am happy to report that last night's house concert was a resounding success with a turnout of 40 people. Besides the local Rockland & Bergen county crowd, people drove in from Newburgh, NY, Irvington, NJ, & Manhattan. Geoff Kaufman was at his very best and he got the crowd into it early. We ended the evening just like the Mystic Festival with "Old Maui" & "Leave Her Johnny". He also did Rod McDonald's "A Sailor's Prayer" as an encore. We had many first timers who were turned on enough to volunteer for our next event. Little Brother took photos and as soon as he gets them to me, I will ask Jeff to put them up on Mudcat so we can all share them.
