Subject: RE: BS: Wolfgang thrown out!! From: akenaton Date: 29 Sep 05 - 07:40 AM I can hardly believe that post by GUEST. As Mooman has said, when Mr Wolfgang was interviewed this morning, he put his case eloquently and with grace. Blame for this fiasco is quietly being shifted on to the stewards, but everyone knows the problem lies in the rotten heart of New Labour |
Subject: RE: BS: Wolfgang thrown out!! From: Stu Date: 29 Sep 05 - 07:35 AM The use of the Terrorism Act to detain Wolfgang harks back to the infamous 'sus' laws of the seventies. The use of a law as a catchall to stop people exercising their democratic rights is disturbing in extreme. The same law is to be used to extent the length of time people can be kept in custody without charge, another practice that reminds me of internment in the North of Ireland. You'd think people would learn from the lessons of the past. |

Subject: RE: BS: Wolfgang thrown out!! From: GUEST Date: 29 Sep 05 - 07:29 AM Oh yea, another hit of no consequence on an official not of your country. At 82, just maybe he be should be relaxing on his verandah with a glass tea. The US is also noted for too many 'elderly' memembers. The value of experience is diminished in a logarithmic curve as the age increases. I often wonder why so many other occupations have mandatory retirement of 65 |
Subject: RE: BS: Wolfgang thrown out!! From: GUEST,JB Date: 29 Sep 05 - 07:17 AM Blair has had a great tutor in Bush and he is far more astute at telling lies because he simply has a better way with words. However, it doesn`t take much to be a better speaker than Bush. JB |
Subject: RE: BS: Wolfgang thrown out!! From: mooman Date: 29 Sep 05 - 07:16 AM This was one of the most ridiculous things I've seen in years! Time was when any half-decent politician could have handled a bit of heckling. These days, any dissent from the party line, and you have the heavy mob on you. Jack Straw could easily have broken off and told the stewards to ease off but he's an incompetent fool. New "Labour" should be ashamed of themselves over this. Mr Wolfgang richly deserves the warm reception he later got for speaking up on something he strongly believes in and for handling himself with such grace over his treatment. This happened to be at the Labour conference but my response would be the same for the others in similar circumstances. Peace moo |
Subject: BS: Wolfgang thrown out!! From: akenaton Date: 29 Sep 05 - 07:00 AM 82yr old Labour party member Walter Wolfgang was manhandled out of the Labour conference yesterday, for daring to call out "rubbish" during a speech on Iraq by Jack Straw. Mr Wolfgang was a Labour party member before Blair left primary school. This morning, Blair and his gang appeared on TV to make their usual face saving and insincere apologies, but once again refused to address the control freakery and lack of debate which lies at the heart of New Labour. AS I suggested might happen, Mr Wolfgang was prevented from returning to the confereence centre by police citing the prevention of terrorism act. Surely we need no more proof of where we are being led by this extreme right wing administration. All protest will soon be snuffed out. Who would have thought we would see a Tory party moving to the left of Labour, just shows how usless political labels are...Ake |
