Subject: The Bull, Barton, Beds - October things
From: Ross
Date: 03 Oct 05 - 10:41 AM

Hi everyone - here's hoping your all mighty fine

Sessions this month

Folk etc. - Wednesday the 5th and 19th

Blues etc. - Wednesday the 12th and 26th

Everyone welcome - come and shake off the blues

Other things on:
Mondays – Herga at the Harrow Arts Centre
Mondays – Tudor Folk Club – The Whitehill Centre, Chesham
Tuesdays – Ampthill - gone - a message to us all
This Tuesday - Blue Anchor - 4th
Thursdays – Redbourn Folk Club – The Cricketers
Wednesdays – The Orange Tree, Baldock – Baldock & Letchworth folk club
Wednesdays – Hertford somewhere on odd dates – see Mudcat
Thursdays – Rose & Crown, St Michaels, St Albans
Thursdays – Bedford Folk Club – Fox and Hounds
Fridays – Windward – Duke of Marlborough, St Albans
Sunday – St Albans British Legion Spotlight

I was thinking after Christmas of moving the folk to tuesdays and fixing it to the 2nd & 4th weeks in the month

Main reason is we clash with Letchworth now and some wednesdays, the pub can get a bit rowdy for folk (maybe tuesdays would be quieter)

The Blues would carry on wednesdays but would be fixed to the 1st and 3rd weeks of the month

If there is a 5th week in a month - maybe we could have a guest night

What do you think?

Oh Bertie, you remind me of the first joke I ever heard and didn't get at the time.

Two nuns walking down the road and saw a man lying unconscious on the pavement. One of them fainted and the other had a stroke.

Wasn't even funny!

I thought I saw a tumbleweed and heard a bell tolling in the wind

My weekend went well - I had a lot of duties to perform

Two nuns in a car get confronted by a vampire in the middle of the road

One nun says to the other; show him your cross

The other nun winds down the window and shouts; get out of the way, you bloody stupid vampire

Keep it up - I should know Steve - does he know the blues?

It's easy for the general public to take a flippant attitude to our work

But we provide a valuable service to the nation

Where would life be without us - chaos

Hand over your capos - your capos or your life

Hitchin's at the Sun Hotel, Sun Street, Hitchin every Sunday - it won an award last year for best folk something on radio 2 - it's expensive but they have some class acts - local folkies either love it or hate it

I saw Breezie at the Blue Anchor this month - he was in fine form - he's modems down at the moment so he is offline - some wags have taken advantage of this and hijacked his recent threads - I wonder who that could have been?

OK -- if you insist...... Four nuns were out for a drive one day and, unfortunately were in a head on crash and died. Naturally they went to heaven and found themselves queuing up at the Pearly Gates. St Peter came over to the first nun over and said "I'm sure this is just a formality, sister, but I have to ask you -- and please don't be offended --- have you ever touched a man's private parts?" The nun blushed and said "Well, it was a long time ago, but I did once --accidentally, of course --- brush a man's ... member with the end of my finger". "No problem said St Peter -- just go and wash your finger in that holy water over there and in you go". He then approached the second nun and asked her the same question. "Well, Your Saintliness" she replied "I did once, long before I took holy orders, accidentally hold a man's..... virility, having been misinformed that it was a sausage". "It could happen to anyone, sister" said St Peter "Just wash your hand and go straight in". He turned back to the queue and was surprised to find the other two nuns fighting to get to the front. "Sisters, sisters" he said "What in heaven's going on here?" "Sorry your Magnificence" said the next nun, "But I just want to get some of that holy water in me mouth before she washes her arse in it!"

I'll get me coat...

Three nuns were talking one sunny day in June.

The first nun said, "I was cleaning in Father's room the other day and do you know what I found? A bunch of pornographic magazines!"

"What did you do?" the other nuns asked.

"Well, of course I threw them in the trash," she replied.

The second nun said, "Well, I can top that. I was in Father's room putting away the laundry and I found a bunch of condoms!"

"Oh my!" gasped the other nuns.

"What did you do?" they asked.

"I poked holes in all of them!" she replied.

The third nun fainted.

Great stuff - I think the Bull is due a visit from the Pope anytime, due to our ceaseless work in sponsoring relegion

Give up Martin - what are you quoting?

Is it a great new song or am I just showing my lack of folk knowledge

Not sure about GP, but Jez Lowe was excellent and I met up with the other Cathy. Sorry it was only for a short while Cathy but I was in shock when you introduced yourself. She remembers you and I Ross from that Father Christmas performance at Hitchin a few years ago. How could she tell it was me? Even the police were'nt 100% sure. Plus I won a CD of my choice from the Jez Lowe collection. I hope he does not mind but I went for the CD of his pipe player who was oresome.

Oh that Cathy - the one who comes to Barton a lot & supports us

Perhaps she recognised your belly Martin

Three monks are meditating far from the humanity,
in the Himalayas.
One year passes in silence, and one of them says
to the others, "My willy's turned blue."
Another year passes and the second monk says,
"You know, you are quite right."
Another year comes to pass...
And the third monk says, "I'm gonna quit
unless you stop chattering & putting your willys in the soup!"

Hi Stevi nice to know you are still about. Do you mean you practice? The Buntingford is regular but only once a year. I know of a pub near Bedford who would like to hear from anyone who wants to run a music night. If you are intrested it is in Radwell up the A6 just north of Bedford. I can't remember the name but it will come to me.

Hi Martin - no - Radwell is too far away for me - I can't help

Sorry everyone - I was offline yesterday - what is the meaning of life Stevi?

Wednesday night was very good - Cheers to Bert, Pat, John B, John P, Keith, Eve, Roy, Cathy, Bob the landlord and various audience including Ian

Thanks everyone for an octagonal October

I helped a large Arab gentleman cross the road yesterday - he told me keep away from Luton next Wednesday - I asked him why?

He said - The curry's not very nice

Shocking
