There was a young man from Nantucket,
Whose cock was so long he could suck it.
He said with a grin
As he wiped off his chin
"If my ear were a cunt I would fuck it!

Sorry, Joe. I did not mean to say, the one I posted should be included. Did mean, that was a v. common song, was hard to find on the Forum, & was not marked with arches, so far as I could make out. I guess it must have been marked all along, and I just missed it.

A localised NZ chorus for limericks was...

Aye.. Aye.. Aye.. Aye..
I am the guy from Naenae (a Wellington suburb)
My sister Belinda she pissed out the window
And ruined my new sombrero

Cheers - Sam

Toadfrog, I didn't see the version you posted. What thread is it in? Is it the same as what Dick posted above? Dick's version was added to the April 2000 version of the database, but that version isn't in general circulation because of some technical problems. If you use the Digitrad and Forum Search (SuperSearch), you can see if songs have been posted in either the Forum or the Digital Tradition, and that will save duplications. If you have a different version of a song to post, please try to use an existing thread on the song instead of starting yet another thread. the fewer threads we have on songs, the less confustion. Our general policy is one song, one thread.

Hmm. I posted this song lately. I had not found it, but here it was. It seems to me it qualifies for the DT. Otherwise people will go on posting it. It sure is a traditional song. Or am I wrong?

The tune to "Chinamen never eat chili" is

"Cilito Lindo" its' chording is in the database.

As with most folksongs there are several variations

in New Mexico the one I heard on the "Chinamen" varied with:

"In China they do it for chili" and

"Waltz me around by my willie."

THE collection of dirty limericks is by G. Legman--two fat volumes. Limericks are the one type of true folksong we're not including in the Digital Tradition--if we did, we wouldn't have room for anything else.

Bill,

See the 'Playboy book of limericks' for a really great collection.

Bert.

When I was in Infantry School at Fort Benning we used to sing "Chinamen Never Eat Chili" to pass the time as the cattle trucks hauled us from one training area to another. It was an organized, participatory song; anyone who wanted to sing a verse raised his hand during the chorus, and the person designated as "leader" would point to the next singer. The chorus was as follows:

Aye, Aye, Aye, Aye –
Chinamen never eat chili--
So let's have another verse
That’s worse than the other verse--
And waltz me around again Willie.

The verses were explicitly dirty limericks and, since the content of the verses changed every time the song was sung, it would be impossible for anyone to remember them. The only one I can recall goes

There was a young lady from Thrace
Whose corset grew too tight to lace;
Her mother said, "Nellie,
There’s things in your belly
That didn't go in through your face."

Good luck with your search.

ROLL ME OVER

Now this is number one, and the fun has just begun
Roll me over, lay me down and do it again.
Roll me over, in the clover (or, Yankee soldier)
Roll me over, lay me down and do it again.

Oh, this is number two, and his hand is on my shoe,
etc.

three...hand is on my knee
four... he's got me on the floor
five... he's got me dancing jive (or his hand is on my thigh)
six... he's got me doing tricks
seven...it's feeling just like heaven
eight...my period is late (or the doctor's at the gate)
nine...the twins are doing fine
ten...let's start all over again

note; an example of what Stan Hugill called "a song of anatomical progression. Very popular during and after WWII. ^^

I don't know from nurses.

Is it the one I learned in college that goes like this?

This is number one, and I want to do it again.
Roll me over, lay me down, and do it again.
Roll me over, in the clover,
Roll me over, lay me down, and do it again.

This is number two, and I want to do it again...

Sort of like "Ninety-nine Bottles of Beer on the Wall", except that it can theoretically last forever. Or were you looking for something more interesting that has more to do with nurses?

Hi,

I've just (mis)spent over an hour looking on the web for the lyrics to one of my favorite old dirty ditties - "Roll me over in the clover", also known as "The Nurses Song".

But all to no avail.

This wonderful site did provide me with the words to Barnacle Bill, another old goodie.

Does anyone know where I might find what I'm looking for? If so you could either email them directly to me (DSabbe@AOL.com) or post something here.

Thanks, Don Sabbe

PS I'm also looking for "Chinamen never eat Chili".
