Subject: RE: Loughstock 4-score (N. Irish meet) From: Maryrrf Date: 29 Jan 06 - 03:32 PM Well, it's a small bottle of a bourbon called "Virginia Gentleman". I don't know much about bourbon myself but it's what a lot of people drink around here. |
Subject: RE: Loughstock 4-score (N. Irish meet) From: John MacKenzie Date: 29 Jan 06 - 03:13 PM Make that two bottles, or two bottles of George Dickel 12, and I will happily pay whatever it costs, it is my preferred tipple, and I can't buy it here. Only joking Mary; yes a bottle of something like that would go down well for the Mudcat raffle. Giok |

Subject: RE: Loughstock 4-score (N. Irish meet) From: Fibula Mattock Date: 28 Jan 06 - 01:40 PM Hula Hula Buttock is the name I travel under with my partner, Frank Mills. Easyjet passenger lists will verify this. |
Subject: RE: Loughstock 4-score (N. Irish meet) From: John MacKenzie Date: 28 Jan 06 - 12:12 PM I knew it was either that or Hula Hula Buttock you worked nights in the Burly Q under. G. I shall probably live to regret these flights of fancy! |
Subject: RE: Loughstock 4-score (N. Irish meet) From: Fibula Mattock Date: 28 Jan 06 - 10:47 AM har har, how did you know Tallulah Flinlock is my stage name Giok!? That's for my job at the burlesque house though. |

Subject: RE: Loughstock 4-score (N. Irish meet) From: Fibula Mattock Date: 28 Jan 06 - 10:33 AM Eric, you will be missed. I was hoping to hear - and learn - that rude song you do ("which one?", sez he). You make sure Freja hits the big time and looks after you in your old and decrepit age! It's a pity there's people wot can't make it. Who the hell is going to lead us in Sarf Australia if the fragrant lard meister ain't there either? My mates from Bristol will have to dress up as the missing Catters. They're already slightly bemused because when they phoned the hostel they were given the names of a pile of people they'd never heard of before. They don't quite know what to expect, except for my long-suffering beloved who has been to Portaferry and has been made to set dance, and has been subjected to entire mp3 players full of fiddle tunes. I'm suprised he's agreed to go! |

Subject: RE: Loughstock 4-score (N. Irish meet) From: MudGuard Date: 19 Jan 06 - 05:31 PM Gorgeous sunny day here in Virginia. Only a light jacket is needed. Subject: RE: Loughstock 4-score (N. Irish meet) From: MudGuard Date: 18 Jan 06 - 03:54 PM Yes, there are fires in the Portaferry pubs - as White Tiger will be able to confirm they are needed to throw gold chains into them ... ;-) |
Subject: RE: Loughstock 4-score (N. Irish meet) From: Peter K (Fionn) Date: 18 Jan 06 - 02:53 PM Russia has cut supplies to Bosnia (still -10C) as it hits -30C in Moscow. Very mild here in Sherwood Forest today - but an east wind would soon change that! Whatever - there will certainly be roaring fires in the Portaferry bars. "...and we drew the circle wide Round Andy Lemon's cheerful blaze..." |
Subject: RE: Loughstock 4-score (N. Irish meet) From: Maryrrf Date: 17 Jan 06 - 09:16 PM I am from Virginia where it does get kind of cold sometimes but the skies are generally sunny and bright. I was kidding, guys, I know it's going to be cold and probably wet in Northern Ireland in February, and a lot of my friends think I'm nuts for going at such a time (they mostly head the other way - towards the Caribbean Islands or Mexico, and would only think of going to Ireland in Spring or Summer). But I am hoping Barholm is well heated and that there will be nice roaring fireplaces in some of the pubs. I have been in Scotland in February and am figuring N.I. would be much the same, climatewise at that time of year. Even though I'm a born and bred southern girl, I think I can handle it. |
Subject: RE: Loughstock 4-score (N. Irish meet) From: Peter K (Fionn) Date: 17 Jan 06 - 04:14 PM Fibs, Portaferry in Feb will be a model of temperate moderation! But I've just had a call from a guy in Fairbanks, and it's freezing there - the sun's still not quite making it up to the horizon. And it was ten below zero (celsius) in Banja Luka last Monday. We don't know we're born.... (Where you from, Maryrrf? Not Maine or some such, by any chance?) |
Subject: RE: Loughstock 4-score (N. Irish meet) From: Fibula Mattock Date: 17 Jan 06 - 07:24 AM Ha! Maryrrf - NI in February is bloody freezing, not enticing! Letty, teach me a tune for my birthday. I haven't picked up the fiddle in months and months. I'm trying to get back into it sloooooowly, but illness, work and dancing distracted me somewhat. |
Subject: RE: Loughstock 4-score (N. Irish meet) From: Peter K (Fionn) Date: 17 Jan 06 - 07:12 AM Letty, won't they let the dog in at Barholm? |
