The 30 sec sound clip makes it seem like it's just basic chords, RC.

I don't know about amazon and free downloads--but it seems this site offers such.

Flat-assed guess at the chords based on the sound clip:

(G) I hear the wind a-blowing through the lonesome pine

I expect--unless there is a key change for the chorus, that you'll find the songs requires only G, C and D or D7. (The key is likely not the one used. I have a good ear, but I don't have perfect pitch. If you need the key changed to another, I can help with that. I don't know how advanced your guitar playing is, so please don't be insulted if you're way past needing that kind of help.

Will try it later, it's still very early, and dont want to wake anyone, espeically with my guitar playing. think my singing voice is better than my playing ;-} so i am not insulted at all, and even had my playing been a great deal better it would take a lot more than that to insult me, afterall you are helping, so no worries on that front. I will play around with the chords and let you know.

This is as on the recording, as you had it Peace but they do it in C, have left out the instrumental breaks and the reprise at the end.

This tune has blues feel to it, so you'll notice that a major IV (F major) doesn't sound right. Try making it an F7 and it will sound better.

OK, let's trace this back to the beginning. Rhonda learned this from Buck White. I have the lp with Buck's rendition somewhere, though it's been a while since it has been played, except in my mind, of course.   It's playing there now. (big grin emoticon)

Buck learned it from Wayne Raney, who wrote it. When? I'd have to do some searching on that, but I'm guessing mid to late 50's. If Gene sees this, he can likely come up with something more exact. Wayne was from Wolf Bayou, just down the road a piece from where I live. I met him some years ago. He passed on back in the 90's.

Oh, and back to Buck's recording, it goes back to when his family group was still called Buck White and the Down Home Folks, prior to their changing their name to The Whites. I just now checked, it's available from eMusic, and likely other places as well.

I think it's supposed to be:

I leave today to try to find my darling.

The first version arouses all kinds of dark suspicions, and I doubt that the composer intended that.

I listened to the link and was surprised at the very old-fashioned sound of this fairly recent song.
