Subject: BS: Hello! From: Darkitar Shard Date: 16 Nov 05 - 07:09 AM Well, strangely enough I was a member of this forum some 4 years ago, and I can't believe I ever left the place; not a clue why I did, and technically I never left, I just never posted! Anyway, just thought I'd say hello to everyone, I don't have a clue if anyone would even remember someone such as myself, considering my long time absence from most forums, but I am here again! Anyway, as far as musical background goes, I play a bit of quite a few instruments, and a couple fairly well. I play the accordion, as well as piano, harmonica, guitar, electric bass guitar, mandolin, and banjo all to differing degrees of success. Well, I'm glad to be back, and I hope to make a good contribution to this forum. Thanks for your time! DS |

Mebbe we kin hunker down an' eat a few beans together round the ol' Chuck-a-rama, iffen we had a Chuck-a-rama here, which we don't. Don't have a Starbucks either, fer that matter. |

Subject: RE: BS: Hello! From: CarolC Date: 16 Nov 05 - 01:17 PM Hi, Darkitar Shard. I remember you from when you were here before. It's hard to forget a screen name like yours. I also play the accordion (and am delighted to know that Utah has at least one accordion player in it). My son just recently graduated from the University of Utah. Welcome back. What kind of music do you like to play on your accordion? |
Subject: RE: BS: Hello! From: Rapparee Date: 16 Nov 05 - 01:36 PM Carol, you know that the only music appropriate to an accordion is heavy-metal polkas. |
Subject: RE: BS: Hello! From: CarolC Date: 16 Nov 05 - 01:55 PM Rapaire... what's a polka? |
Subject: RE: BS: Hello! From: gnu Date: 16 Nov 05 - 02:06 PM The name IS vaguely familiar. But then again, most of the past is vague to me. Welcome back to the Café. Some of the crazies have gone over the past four years but there are ample replacements. The BS is still the same mash of human diatribe and the serious music discussions are still as enlightening as ever. CC!!! The young fellah gradiated??!! WoW!!! I recall when he first left on his great educational venture and phoned home to tell you about his first true revelation in higher learning. Gosh. Times flies. |
Subject: RE: BS: Hello! From: Rapparee Date: 16 Nov 05 - 06:57 PM A polka is something you play on a heavy-metal accordion, silly. |
Subject: RE: BS: Hello! From: katlaughing Date: 16 Nov 05 - 07:45 PM Likewise what Rapaire said, if you ever make it to Western Colorado! Welcome back. |

Subject: RE: BS: Hello! From: Azizi Date: 16 Nov 05 - 10:02 PM Greetings, Darkitar Shard! Welcome back! Nice to know someone from Utah-another state that I haven't visited yet. I'm from New Jersey but have lived in Pennsylvania for 37 years so that makes me a Pennsylvanian. I look forward to "seeing" you around the 'Cat! And btw, do you mind sharing what your name means? Ms Azizi |
Subject: RE: BS: Hello! From: Azizi Date: 16 Nov 05 - 10:02 PM This isn't exactly thread drift but while I'm here, Rapaire said "Carol, you know that the only music appropriate to an accordion is heavy-metal polkas. " -snip- What! Rapaire, Rapaire, Rapaire-I know you were just teasing Carol 'cause I know you know about Zydeco music Now more than ever, "Let the good times roll!" |
Subject: RE: BS: Hello! From: Rapparee Date: 16 Nov 05 - 10:09 PM Zydeco music? Isn't that one of them labels that puts out alternative satanic sex rap R&B psychodelic hip-hop music? Or am I thinking of some other label? Wait -- wasn't Zydeco the company that made the beanie babies? |
Subject: RE: BS: Hello! From: Barry Finn Date: 17 Nov 05 - 02:30 AM Hi Darkitar, nice to hear from you again. Happy home coming. Barry |
Subject: RE: BS: Hello! From: Rapparee Date: 17 Nov 05 - 08:35 AM R. William Zydeco -- conductor for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, right? |
Subject: RE: BS: Hello! From: GUEST,marks Date: 17 Nov 05 - 09:10 AM Zydeco is a subsidiary of Halliburton. They make CDs of non-stop accordion music and ship them to law enforcement where they are used to stop prison riots and street demonstrations. Very effective when played at high volume. |

Subject: RE: BS: Hello! From: Azizi Date: 06 Mar 06 - 10:20 PM Hidee Hidee Hidee Ho. Zydeco. Hidee Hidee Hidee Ho All the way to Mexico. **** Hmmm. So is that how children's handclap rhymes are created? Probably not. Nowadays, kids of a certain age who hear that "Hidee Hidee Hidee Ho" line might think somebody's talking about hineys and prostitutes. Time changes things and rhymes change over time {and under it and through it and around it... Help!!! Stop me!!! I think Mudcat's made me crazy! They're comin to take me away! But before they do I gotta say Hello again, Darkitar. |
