When I was a kid and a big Lone Ranger fan I remember a parody but have forgotten most of it. Something like:
To the dump, to the dump, to the dump, dump, dump............

Here he comes, Here he comes on his trusty horse
Here he comes, Here he comes always right on course
Here he comes, Here he comes such a mighty force
He's the Lone Ranger

With his sidekick Tonto you will see him chasing bad men down
Ayee Kimo Sabe hes the bestest cowboy ever found
Each and every battle, the good guys prevail
They beat up the villian, and slam him in Jail

With a silver mine to pay his way
He will conquer all without delay
Here he comes here he comes to save the day
He's the Lone Ranger

He's always there to save the day
Unless his horse runs out of hay

He'll ride the long and dusty trail
He'll never fail
At the thought of jail
no chance of bail
And you're away...
To save the day

Hi ho ho ho ho ho

Silver... Away!

I have heard Hale and Pace doing a rendition of this song. I believe the first line goes,
"poppadom poppadom poppadom pom pom"
And they do other lines like,
"middle eye middle eye middle eye, tie tie"
and
"knee knee knee knee knee knee knee knee"
And they use lots of props and actions. I have been trying to find it for ages. It's sooo funny. Anyone know where to get it???

May be getting close to an answer. Could know either where to get the words or how to get the words by tomorrow, Canadian time.

When I hit the submit on the previous post, Google adds appeared below the post box for "Harmony Marketplace: Barbershop CDs & DVDs, sheet music, from SPEBSQSA" and "Sweet Adelines Intl.: Barbershop singers wanted...free CD."

(The "Sweet Adelines Intl" is the "feminine" wing of SPEB.)

The "blanket organization" for Barbershop in the US (and perhaps some places elsewhere) is the "SPEBSQSA" (Society for the Preservation of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America). They do have a web site, and links there offer at least a few downloadable sheet music samples.

Perhaps if normal search methods don't come up with something, a visit to their site may suggest additional places to look. Most BS groups (quartet and otherwise) include at least a few novelty songs, and this sounds like one that would be popular(?).

And then there's Les Barker's William Patel Overture with a chorus of:

Poppadom, poppadom, poppadom, dom, dom,
Poppadom, poppadom, poppadom, dom, dom,
Poppadom, poppadom, poppadom, dom, dom,
Poppa-dom, poppadom, dom, dom.

The old William Tell TV show of the '60's starring Conrad Phillips had a theme song set to the William Tell Overture.

Comeaaway, come away with William Tell,
Come Away to the land he loved so well,
What a day, what a day when the apple fell
For Tell and Switzerland.

Seamus

You can hear the entire recording of The Gas House Gang singing THE WILLIAM TELL OVERTURE at National Public Radio's All Songs Considered archive.

It will be a bitch to transcribe.

Guest, I have e-mailed a barbershop quartet member in the Baltimore area. He may be able to direct to the lyrics. It might be worth your while to try e-mailing the Gas House Gang directly. I am not finding the lyrics anywhere. This could take a few days.

OK. That's a place to start. Thanks, GUEST. And for someone who's not a native speaker, your written English is great. I will go look, as will others who like a challenge.

Yes!
And it just sounds great. They sing so fast that I can't understand the words. (I'm not a native speaker)

The theme was the William Tell Overture. Are you saying that someone put words to that?

I am trying to find the lyrics of a song called something like
Lone Ranger (theme). It is not the one which you can easily google (by Quantum Jump).
The version I'm thinking of is (also) song by The Barbershop Quartet.
Can anyone help me?
