Subject: BS: Virtual Desktop Tickler File with alerts From: katlaughing Date: 04 Jan 06 - 05:28 PM I am in need a tickler file - a reminder program for marketing deadlines, to-do tasks, etc. I've had a look round google and found a few things which might work, but they all want money. I was going to use Yahoo calendar, but it just sends reminders to email. I want something which will pop up, if possible, on the appropriate day on my computer desktop. So, anyone know of something..shareware? Thanks!! kat |

Subject: RE: BS: Virtual Desktop Tickler File with alerts From: robomatic Date: 04 Jan 06 - 05:40 PM kat: you don't say what system you're running, but Microsoft Outlook which you may already have allows you to set calendar reminders. I'm not even sure you have to have Outlook open in order for a reminder to be posted to your desktop at an advance notice of your choosing. |

Subject: RE: BS: Virtual Desktop Tickler File with alerts From: Amos Date: 04 Jan 06 - 06:06 PM Outlook does it all -- links, contacts, ticklers, calndar, reminders, repeating appointments. COmplete package. And it works okay on Macs, too! A |

Subject: RE: BS: Virtual Desktop Tickler File with alerts From: Bill D Date: 04 Jan 06 - 10:01 PM I have a BIG thing called Sidekick98 (scroll down) that does maybe more than you want...complete calendar, to do lists, address book, time zone mapper..etc... if that's too much, there is a little 'sticky' program called ...well,,, "Stickies" which gives you little hide-or-show notes with settable alarms... (I have and use BOTH of these daily, and they are both free) If those don't work, there are several other PIMs (Personal Information Managers) that I have seen that are like smaller versions of Sidekick, and several other 'Sticky Note' programs. Let me know if you'd like more choices.. |

Subject: RE: BS: Virtual Desktop Tickler File with alerts From: Bill D Date: 04 Jan 06 - 10:09 PM on the same page as Sidekick is one called TaskPlus, which looks interesting. (it mentions price, but it does have a free version which is ad supported) |

Subject: RE: BS: Virtual Desktop Tickler File with alerts From: Bill D Date: 04 Jan 06 - 10:13 PM furthe down that page is Week Scheduler which does some of the things you mention. I would guess that I could find 25 more apps that are generally what you 'might' find useful....it is one of the most common types of program, and comes in all sizes and configurations with an assortment of features. |

Subject: RE: BS: Virtual Desktop Tickler File with alerts From: gnomad Date: 05 Jan 06 - 07:01 AM These Post It Notes are free and might fit the bill. They act as a virtual version of the little yellow tags some folks love (and others hate after working with an addict!) |
