Subject: BS: Howells Named From: Folkiedave Date: 12 Jan 06 - 06:24 PM The Minister responsible for the teacher who was on the sex offenders register getting a job was Kim Howells, beloved of all folkies for his role in the Licensing Bill. (see threads too numerous to mention) Couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke. Dave |
Subject: RE: BS: Howells Named From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 12 Jan 06 - 08:08 PM I saw that. Hah hah! Here's a song I made about him when he was Minister of Culture, and posted. Here it is again. (A cut and paste, but...) Maybe I might give it another verse... We'll never find a better friend than the Minister of Culture. They may say that he is round the bend, from Westmoreland to Wiltshire, But every time we sing a song, and the licence is not handy, We'll think of Kim the Minister, from the land of Tonypandy. Oh Kim we will remember you, who ever could forget you. You're the man who tried to silence us, except, we never let you. Well he promised this and he promised that, but he never could deliver, "If there's no money changing hands it's diffeent altogether Oh you can hold your sessions there's no reason for a licence." Did he think a fine of 20,000 might calm us into silence? Oh Kim we will remember you, who ever could forget you. You're the man who tried to silence us, except, we never let you. Oh the bells were ringing in the church, and the dancers on the paving, And the Minister of Culture was very close to raving. Oh he blamed it on the Union, for it's misinformation, But the Minister of Culture now is a joke through all the nation. Oh Kim we will remember you, who ever could forget you. You're the man who tried to silence us, except, we never let you. |
Subject: RE: BS: Howells Named From: DMcG Date: 13 Jan 06 - 07:10 AM His case appears that he acted on advice received and so he knows best. Everyone else is mistaken or inadequately informed. The more it changes, well, the more it stays the same And the hand just rearranges all the players in the game Or in this case, same player, different game. |
Subject: RE: BS: Howells Named From: The Shambles Date: 13 Jan 06 - 07:21 AM They say you can't keep a good man down. |
Subject: RE: BS: Howells Named From: The Shambles Date: 13 Jan 06 - 08:48 AM It looks to be just as hard to keep a bad man up. |
Subject: RE: BS: Howells Named From: Leadfingers Date: 13 Jan 06 - 12:40 PM Its everybody's fault but his !!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Howells Named From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 13 Jan 06 - 02:49 PM Sorry, opened thread in error. I thought maybe Thurston and Luvvie got busted. |
Subject: RE: BS: Howells Named From: GUEST,smiler Date: 13 Jan 06 - 04:11 PM I know Howells has always been a semi-quaver short of a note, but it might be just a tad unfair to blame him for this as well. The way I understand it is that a chap claimed to be accessing legal adult porn, but the site also happened to contain illegal dodgy stuff. His explanation was accepted and rightly or wrongly, he was employed by the relevant authorities. As well as your Gary Glitters, innocent people can also get caught up in the witch hunt. |
Subject: RE: BS: Howells Named From: DMcG Date: 13 Jan 06 - 04:26 PM True, smiler. Howells insisted he reviewed the case reports and decided there was nothing to stop the chap working as a teacher. So we can now look forward to Howells campaigning for his right to regain the job, can't we? |
