Please give me a hand if you can,

My group has a gig coming up in a month and we wanted to put together a medley of "4 chord" songs, ala Blue moon...G, E min C D7, you all know the stuff, and I want a list of as many songs as possible to choose from to put this medley together. Songs like SIncerely, Heart and Soul, Silhouetes, etc. If you have any you can add I would appreciate it. Thanks jimmyt

Surely there are more folks out there who can contribute their share of 4 chord song titles. I promised my gtoup that the good folks of Mudcat are a veritable font of knowledge regarding such matters and that within 24 hours we would be deluged with suggestions.

Twenty-six Miles Across the Sea,
Santa Catalina is a-waiting for me.
Santa Catalina, the island of
Romance, romance, romance, romance

I think it's also known by the title "Santa Catalina"

Also for the list, add "Stand By Me"

Since I Fell for You
Heart and Soul
Come Go With Me
Wonderful World (Sam Cooke, not Satch)
Breakin' Up Is Hard to Do
Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow

There has to be a master list online somewhere. I'll check.

I call these 1/6m/4/5 songs...

Well, Jimmyt - I went into the archives of Billboards TOP 100 list for each year from 1950 - 1960 and came up with the following songs; not a complete list, but it'll help:
"Little Star" - Elegants
"What Kind Of Love Is This?" - Ral Donner (?)
"Devil Or Angel" - Bobby Vee
"Lollipop" - Chordettes
"Step By Step" - Johnny Maestro (and his group at that time)
"I Wonder Why" "Runaround Sue" - Dion
"Donna" - Ritchie Valens
"Hush-a-bye" - Mystics
"Oh, Carol" - Neil Sedaka
"Poetry In Motion" - Johnny Tillotson
"Blue Angel" - Roy Orbison
"Bristol Stomp" - Dovells
"I Love You" - The Volumes
"Goodnight Sweetheart" - don't remember, but it wasn't Sha Na Na
"Diana" - Paul Anka
"You Send Me" "Cupid" - Sam Cooke
"Over The Mountain, Across The Sea" - Johnnie & Joe
"All I Have To Do Is Dream" - Everly Brothers
"It's Only Make Believe" - Conway Twitty

I believe these are all played: 1 / 6 minor / 4 / 5
Hope this helps you out. Now, here's a trivia set for you -
Who was the lead singer for the Dovells?
What was the name of his big hit when he left the group?
What caused him to fall out of favor with the public? Cheers.

"At the Hop" by Danny and the Juniors
"Summertime Blues" by Eddie Cochran
"Last Kiss" by the Cavaliers. sorry early 60's
I think this may be the most popular chord progression in Rock Music
F dm B% C7. Now that may be a good thread.
"It Keeps Rainin'" by Fats Domino
"Sea Cruise" by Huey Smith and John Vincent - 3 chords count

The Everly Brothers' "Dream" is a great one, but it may not qualify because the bridge has an extra chord (Bm if you're in G).

Peter.

JimmyT:

The DOOWOP DISCUSSION that was held in the aftermath of the Getaway 2005 listed scores of these.

Shboom shboom
Moon River
Teenager in Love
Dream
Oh, Donna
A Girl Named Jo-Ann
Who Wrote the Book of Love
For Eternity
Santa Catalina

for a few. Cull that discussion and you'll have more titles than you can do in one night.

Thanks, folks! I kknew I could count on you. This is the progression I am looking for, and I don't mind if the bridge gets too tricky with an additional chord or 2 we will only play the body of the songs and string them together in one long singalong medley. Progression must be 1 6min 4 5 (or 57) in that sequenct to be helpful. THanks again
