Subject: RE: Lyr Req: medley of standard 4 chord songs (50s) From: jimmyt Date: 15 Jan 06 - 12:28 PM Thanks, folks! I kknew I could count on you. This is the progression I am looking for, and I don't mind if the bridge gets too tricky with an additional chord or 2 we will only play the body of the songs and string them together in one long singalong medley. Progression must be 1 6min 4 5 (or 57) in that sequenct to be helpful. THanks again |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: medley of standard 4 chord songs (50s From: Midchuck Date: 15 Jan 06 - 10:13 AM The Everly Brothers' "Dream" is a great one, but it may not qualify because the bridge has an extra chord (Bm if you're in G). Peter. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: medley of standard 4 chord songs (50s) From: GUEST,Texas Guest Date: 14 Jan 06 - 10:02 PM Well, Jimmyt - I went into the archives of Billboards TOP 100 list for each year from 1950 - 1960 and came up with the following songs; not a complete list, but it'll help: "Little Star" - Elegants "What Kind Of Love Is This?" - Ral Donner (?) "Devil Or Angel" - Bobby Vee "Lollipop" - Chordettes "Step By Step" - Johnny Maestro (and his group at that time) "I Wonder Why" "Runaround Sue" - Dion "Donna" - Ritchie Valens "Hush-a-bye" - Mystics "Oh, Carol" - Neil Sedaka "Poetry In Motion" - Johnny Tillotson "Blue Angel" - Roy Orbison "Bristol Stomp" - Dovells "I Love You" - The Volumes "Goodnight Sweetheart" - don't remember, but it wasn't Sha Na Na "Diana" - Paul Anka "You Send Me" "Cupid" - Sam Cooke "Over The Mountain, Across The Sea" - Johnnie & Joe "All I Have To Do Is Dream" - Everly Brothers "It's Only Make Believe" - Conway Twitty I believe these are all played: 1 / 6 minor / 4 / 5 Hope this helps you out. Now, here's a trivia set for you - Who was the lead singer for the Dovells? What was the name of his big hit when he left the group? What caused him to fall out of favor with the public? Cheers. |
