Subject: RE: Green grow the rushes, O From: Date: 26 Jan 99 - 05:47 AM Thanks again: I have found it, and very useful it is. Apart from the hint that there is always something more lurking over the horizon. Penny |
Subject: RE: Green grow the rushes, O From: SteveF (inactive) Date: 25 Jan 99 - 11:47 AM The database actually has what you want -- a commentary on the biblical and astrological references to the song. Enter the search phrase in square brackets, thus: [green grow the]. Case is immaterial. There are several entries, including the Commentary that you seek. -- SteveF |
Subject: RE: Green grow the rushes, O From: Penny Stanford Date: 23 Jan 99 - 05:26 PM Thanks for the help - I did try a search first, but obviously didn't structure my terms properly. The whole title brought nothing, green grow wasn't recognised (I now suspect letter case problems), and green was just calculated to bring up so much haymaking, willows and rebellion that nothing sensible could be extracted. I'm interested to see an address I couldn't access when I had been directed to it before. Thanks again for the help. I'll be back, Penny |

Subject: RE: Green grow the rushes, O From: Joe Offer Date: 23 Jan 99 - 01:13 PM Hi, Penny - it's always best to search the Mudcat before posting a request. Since this may be your first time, I'll give you a hand: put rushes in the search box in the upper-right corner of this page, and you'll find this (click here) and this. Impressive, eh? Welcome to the Mudcat Cafe. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: Green grow the rushes, O From: Penny Stanford Date: 23 Jan 99 - 01:06 PM Does anyone have access to well researched meanings to the words of this song, which is mainly Biblical and astronomical (or astrological, I suppose)? I have come across an explanation once, but the source has been lost. After haunting various sites on the web, I have been able to reconstruct what I knew except for six and nine. Can anyone help? Thanks, Penny |
