I think that will change. The 2006 elections will be an indication. And I think that regardless of who the Republicans run in 2008, there is no way there will be a Republican President. Of course, there are a few scenarios that could change that: A coup by Bush and the boys; a war that becomes necessary; a 'terrorist' attack in the continental USA.

If bin Laden expected American democracy to change as a result of the 2001 attack, hey, he accomplished what he set out to do, IMO. I don't think the change has been for the better. The country is polarized severely (in a fifty/fifty split). And the differences seem to grow daily.
