Got an email on Monday from ebay to say a third party had locked onto my account and was using it to send sale offers to other members outside of ebay. They said my account was safe and required a new password. Thought it was a spoof, got reply no it was the real thing. I Could not get onto my account. 17 emails later still no reply from them other than a load of crap saying your reply is important to us. Told them I needed to pay other members, may as well sent it to here, still no reply.

They must have the worst customer service department on the net.

They said this happens a lot. Still three days later no ebaying for me and still no reply.

Everything is going to Hell. I got a letter from the IRS postmarked last August, and received in January!

presumably someone tries to access your account with an obvious password and tries a few more until they get in and then change it.

I think I will change mine regularly if ebayy are that unsfe with their security.

Presumeably they can play the bidding game with themselves and make it look like a popular item.

I have been looking at one item for a few weeks and know the value it goes for generally. Bids always low enough to not quite get it - I can wait a bit - gain experience. Look for a seller withing driving distance maybe.

Ebay change your password, not the third party. The third party lock onto a member who is online at the time and start sending offers like the spam crap we all get. Ebay spot this and see it for what it is and stall the member and this clocks off the third party,Had the same thing happen to me, don´t boast Clinton, I did until it happened to me ! And it took a week before they finally got me back on.

Suggest you get a friend who has an Ebay account to E-mail 'Trust and Safety' at Ebay and explain your predicament as I had a similar thing happen and someone HAD hi-jacked my account. Do it now! Best wishes, Mike.

We buy and sell on eBay...never any big problems at all. A few sellers were slow on the sending and a few buyers were impatient in getting their items....but those are post office issues, not eBay.

I've never had any problems with Ebay either. Given the enormous amount of use it gets worldwide, I would be surprised if there weren't some problems. Nothing is perfect

If you really wish attention, dial 411, get their office number and speak to them directly. It worked for me. Any problems I have had with EBay have been due to my own errors.

The world would be grateful for publication of ebay's telepohne numbers. It is one of the great complaints: you can't get hold of them other than by email and when they reply their replies are formulaic and evasive.
