Happy Birthday!

Folk bluesist,

Robert Junior Lockwood

was born 3/27/1915

in Marvel, Arkansas

Still playing as far as I can tell.

For 10 years he was the stepson of Robert Johnson and learned no small amount from him. His first gigs were with Sonny Boy Williamson #2 (aka, Aleck "Rice" Miller) whom he played with in the 1930's.

Note that's Robert JUNIOR Lockwood (not Robert Lockwood, Jr.) As I get it, his surname is Lockwood but he was called Robert Junior (or Robert Jr.) because he was Robert Johnson's stepson. He would've been Robert Johnson, Jr., of course, but, being a Lockwood rather than a Johnson, people called him Robert Junior Lockwood. [thanx for the explanation to Dan Milner]

Early warning notice: This series of the Happy File noncontinues beginning April 16.
