I've known quite a few people who saw the dead, Richard, and not one of them has succumbed to mental illness or done anything dangerous yet. In fact, they were among the most ordinary and normal of people, I'd say. Most of them didn't even believe in any "weird" stuff like that. Boring people, almost. ;-)

All the time you see them, or do they arrange visits? People you know or complete strangers.

there are several people I wish could take a holiday from being dead and come and see me again, and we would talk and may be have a drink together as in times gone.

Seeing or conversing with non-existent people is a known symptom of a number of mental conditions, some which are strongly linked to self-harming and the harming of others. That is medical fact (insofar as anything is), not superstitious mumbo-jumbo.

Maybe, just maybe,the OP is not a menace to himself or others, but it costs little to check and the risks of not checking are large.

Of course you're not alone. I would think that a visit to a spiritualist church would show you that. Do you know the people and do they communicate with you? It would be interesting to know more.

Richard - the problem with telling the medical profession something like this is that they would most likely automatically assume that you had a mental problem and would not even think of looking further than that. Not something that you would want on your medical records!

If it's that it's fine. Enjoy.

If you 'see' them in the sense most here have understood but still can tell the difference to real people you are seeing that is if at least in a small part of your knowledge you realise that this 'reality' is different from the daily reality (in a way like you can tell it was a dream although it did feel real), try to find people with similar experiences to talk. It is quite probably fairly harmless.

If you see them and they are completely real to you, as real as the computer keyboard in front of you, seek help (don't go to a psychologist, go to someone with a sound neurological background). They should send you to a brain scan I'd say. You BTW, in this case you are more dangerous for yourself than for others.

That's what I thought, too, Morticia. At least I took it to be humour because so many of his posts in the past have been humourous. A few folks have messaged privately (myself included) just to be sure.

There was a thread a while back about matters of this nature, and reading the above posts it's interesting to see that no one has changed his/her mind. To save space, couldn't we all just go "ditto my remarks of a while back"?

Bobab, I found that very interesting, as a friend and I encountered that in 1976. I have never heard it given a name before. We met a woman, while in the waiting room at an emergency ward, who apologized for "the odor"; she explained that she had been dead for three days and that her brain was decaying. There was no apparent trauma; a friend dropped in to see her, found her in that state, and brought her to the hospital.
