Subject: RE: BS: What makes you happy? Fulfilled? From: GUEST,Marvin Garden Date: 11 Apr 06 - 10:30 PM "GUEST Ron Davies. So you believe that in 'private' conversation, any one person who is abused should go tell another. It happens in peoples personal and business lives. We all choose how to react to abuse but I don't believe we should go crying to others unless there is a law being broken or we are too weak ourselves and need to whinge to someone to get protection or help. If you decide as a result of this to PM me with some abuse...go ahead but I would would certainly not stoop to the level of divulging your private insults to me. It is part of the 'Martin Gibson' character to be insulting. If you don't like it..."Get over it or get out of the kitchen" I say. Best wishes, Mike. ___________________________________________________ What Martin seems to be crying about is Martin's supposed expectation of privacy. If one sends, profane and insulting message to another, they have no expectation that these be kept in confidence. Certianly if you got a piece of Spam in an email and posted it here as a warning to avoid the offending business. Many would take that as a service. That you do not see it as a service to be warned about an offensive Mudcatter is certainly your you right. But why try to discourage other of that benefit? |
Subject: RE: BS: What makes you happy? Fulfilled? From: GUEST,Martian Gargle Date: 11 Apr 06 - 11:19 PM "Revealing private PMs not for the forum is FORUM ABUSE," How is it Forum abuse to tell other forum members that they are getting spam form another member? Wouldn't FORUM ABUSE be more like sniping at someone then hiding behind the rules whenthey reply. Did you used to hit your little sister then go crying to mom when they hit you back? |
Subject: RE: BS: What makes you happy? Fulfilled? From: GUEST,Ron Davies Date: 11 Apr 06 - 11:42 PM Congratulations, courageous "Martin"-- You maintain your almost perfect record of stupid vulgar nonsense. Are all the graduates of your charm school as delightful as your good self? Perhaps that explains the decline in enrollment. I repeat: if you send a PM attacking someone, it is not sacred and you have no cause to complain if it's made public. I think Jack's analogy of cockroaches fits well--neither cockroaches nor vulgar attackers are likely to appreciate light. So stop whining about the heinous crime of revealing your PM. I have never sent a PM attacking anybody, nor will I ever. And I stand behind everything I say --with my own name. If you'd climb out of the gutter--and stay out-- you wouldn't have to be afraid of revealing yours. |
Subject: RE: BS: What makes you happy? Fulfilled? From: GUEST,Ron Davies Date: 11 Apr 06 - 11:49 PM It's actually a shame this thread, like so many others, has been hijacked. To return to the topic: One of the things that really makes me happy is to teach somebody something, especially something like teaching a child how to recognize birds just by their call--without seeing them. Maybe it's when they realize they can do it themselves--and you realize you've passed on some knowledge--not earthshaking, but fun--and it helps their confidence. |

Subject: RE: BS: What makes you happy? Fulfilled? From: gnu Date: 12 Apr 06 - 07:33 AM BTW... My buddy Jack was just sticking up for me when he thought someone was being negative about the thread. Let's just call it all a misunderstanding and forget about it... don't worry, be happy. |
Subject: RE: BS: What makes you happy? Fulfilled? From: Big Al Whittle Date: 12 Apr 06 - 07:53 AM I think its nice when you get a sense of there being a real human being making up these messages. That's what I loved about Sir jOhn from Hull - a sense of humour, an existence a million miles away from the hi honey I'm home stuff, a sense of outrage, a sense of decency a good man |
Subject: RE: BS: What makes you happy? Fulfilled? From: Ebbie Date: 12 Apr 06 - 11:02 AM Just for the record: If I were to receive an unsolicited PM that was abusive or threatening or otherwise over the top I wouldn't hesitate to do something about it, whether it was to send it to Joe Offer or to make it public. It is the same thing as finding it in your mailbox at home. An unsolicited message is not conversation. |
Subject: RE: BS: What makes you happy? Fulfilled? From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 12 Apr 06 - 11:21 AM And just for the record, as this thread unfortunately sems to have gone to Hell in a handbasket, some of the most insulting, hurtful PMS that I've recieved contained nary an obscenity and came from a couple of Catters who present themselves on threads as ever so thoughtful and non-judgmental. I resent obscenities as much as anyone, but sometimes the most hurtful things in life are said with hands folded. Don't feel badly gnu... you started this thread with a good heart. I appreciate that very much.. maybe some other time we can have this discussion without it devolving into charge and countercharge. This thread brings back memories of "I'm telling MOM!" and "He hit me FIRST!" Jerry |
Subject: RE: BS: What makes you happy? Fulfilled? From: Ebbie Date: 12 Apr 06 - 12:00 PM Wow. Jerry, you have a way of expressing a thought that is marvelous: "sometimes the most hurtful things in life are said with hands folded." Do you write? If you don't, you should. If you do, please direct me to it! (I know you write songs) Among the things that make me happy is being present at the birth of a creative act. I love hearing a new song or a story or a book in progress. |
Subject: RE: BS: What makes you happy? Fulfilled? From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 12 Apr 06 - 12:30 PM Thanks Ebbie... nah I just write what comes to mind and heart. For me, it's best not to be too self-conscious about writing. Thinking about this thread makes me realize that we all have two choices in life: To try to bring out the best in others, or to try to bring out the worst. Martin has chosen to try to drive others to say and do things that are not a part of their true character. He takes pride in upsetting people enough to bring them to respond in kind. The choice we make depends on how we see others (and ourselves.) If you see others as basically hypocritical, dishonest and weak, you will do everything you can to "expose" them for their true nature. Sadly, all you do is expose your own nature. If you see others as of great value and basic goodness, you will encourage them and praise them for their good acts. In the process, you challenge yourself to become a better person. Hatred begets hatred, judgment begets judgment. And sometimes, judgment begets love. Jerry |
Subject: RE: BS: What makes you happy? Fulfilled? From: GUEST,Martin gibson Date: 12 Apr 06 - 01:06 PM ron Davies, you stand behind your own name? so what? It is a riot to contantly yank your chain. You are quite possibly the most judgemental fool here, and please realize how much time and energy you have wasted over me. To know that you have wasted such time and energy over me makes me happy and fulfilled. And ron, I could care less what make you happy. and I am not complaining that Jack exposed a PM from me that was so heartfelt and sincere. By him exposing it, he made a bigger fool out of himself and showed that he will run to his Mommy instead of handling his own problems. |
Subject: RE: BS: What makes you happy? Fulfilled? From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 12 Apr 06 - 01:28 PM And by the way, Martin.. Ron Davies is a friend of mine and a fine man. I don't consider you a friend, Martin because you take pleasure in hurting others. I could never have a friendship with someone who does that. Jerry |

Subject: RE: BS: What makes you happy? Fulfilled? From: GUEST,Martin gibson not logged in. Date: 12 Apr 06 - 04:30 PM OK, Jerry I don't care if you are ron's friend. I wouldn't want to be the friend of a babbling daydreamer like you either. If you were smart enough to see how idiotic Ron is that he spent so much time attacking me, you could see why I think he is such a fool. |
Subject: RE: BS: What makes you happy? Fulfilled? From: gnu Date: 12 Apr 06 - 04:44 PM I think the only reason anyone attacks you is because they feel that innate sense to defend themselves from your attacks. Odd thing, though. Your attacks are mostly humourless, childish and inane. You seldom offer anything with any insight, intelligence, comedy... well, you offer nothing, really. Just attacks. Many vulgar. It's kinda like a small child who wants attention and only knows how to scream and be obnoxious. Like a child that had a mother who was so stunned she could not impart any reality or common sense or love. So sad that you hate your own mother so bad that you disgrace her with your vitriol. |

Subject: RE: BS: What makes you happy? Fulfilled? From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 12 Apr 06 - 05:19 PM Glad we cleared that one up, Martin. In the future, don't use me as a "friend" who supports your actions. Because I don't. Jerry Back to daydreaming... :-) |
Subject: RE: BS: What makes you happy? Fulfilled? From: Once Famous Date: 12 Apr 06 - 05:36 PM OK, Jerry. It could have been worse, but I held back. I have no ax to really grind with you. But you do come across as a silly old man who chases butterflies in a meadow. gnu, and what do you contribute? Nothing i see. Humorless, stuffed shirt, politcally correct, complete bullshit. No one gets nothing from your posts. You contribute nothing in music. Just a typical judgemental anal pore on a high horse. Wesley S, you haven't been able to ignore anything. You love it. |

Subject: RE: BS: What makes you happy? Fulfilled? From: GUEST,Ron Davies Date: 12 Apr 06 - 11:44 PM Martin-- You forgot to mention being locked in the bathroom for months on end-- truly a serious oversight considering your obvious obsession. In fact it's often hard to tell there is ever anything else in your life. But I'm glad it makes you happy. |
Subject: RE: BS: What makes you happy? Fulfilled? From: Jack the Sailor Date: 12 Apr 06 - 11:46 PM Remember: It is not a person. It is a persona designed to provoke. Those are not rational thoughts, just irrational, poorly conceived insults. |
Subject: RE: BS: What makes you happy? Fulfilled? From: GUEST,Ron Davies Date: 12 Apr 06 - 11:52 PM Good point, Jack. I should have at least said "Martin"--since the undetermined species of (unfortunately rather low) life doesn't seem to have a real name. Seems to be some form of sewer-dwelling invertebrate--certainly no backbone. |
Subject: RE: BS: What makes you happy? Fulfilled? From: Once Famous Date: 12 Apr 06 - 11:57 PM More backbone than a girlieman prig like you Ron. Washed your panties lately or just turned them inside out? Come back for more, Ron I know that you enjoy it. As far as sewer dwelling, I don't think so. Not with this spread. Hey everyone! watch Ron Davies be offended daily and rag about it. It gets to him so much that it feels good and he keeps coming back for more. I just can't pity someone as sick as he is for doing so. |
Subject: RE: BS: What makes you happy? Fulfilled? From: GUEST,Ron Davies Date: 13 Apr 06 - 12:24 AM "Martin"-- Too bad you have no imagination--seems like we've heard the sum total of your "thoughts" many times. But, as I said, if gutter life is what you like, be our guest--as you know, Mudcat's only purpose is to make you happy, even if your obsessions bore thinking beings--that is, everybody but you. And don't be afraid--I won't send a PM attacking you, even after I get around to retrieving my cookie. Attacking somebody in a PM seems to be your style--then, of course, whining when the PM is made public. (Rather pathetic, to say the least.) I do neither of those. I prefer to let you know exactly what I think directly--and in the open. And with my own name. It's called backbone. Looks like you'll never have it. Sweet dreams. |
Subject: RE: BS: What makes you happy? Fulfilled? From: Jack the Sailor Date: 13 Apr 06 - 01:25 AM Ron, That's doesn't help things. The attention just makes it happy. |
Subject: RE: BS: What makes you happy? Fulfilled? From: LilyFestre Date: 13 Apr 06 - 07:20 AM Ron, You just proved his point. Michelle |
Subject: RE: BS: What makes you happy? Fulfilled? From: Once Famous Date: 13 Apr 06 - 03:09 PM Of course he did, Michelle. He does it every time. And , ron, I didn't complain about Jack showing the PM I sent him. It did him more harm to him than me to show it and has now set most of the low tone on this board, along with his and Carol's tyrade of guest posting personal attack threads that Joe has admonished. I'll admit I am no angel, but I have not once seriously called for any one to be banned because of disagreements or philosophical differences. So, the prigs who think they are better than everyone else and who get sooooooooooo offended, are the ones who just might be at the root of a lot of problems here. |

Subject: RE: BS: What makes you happy? Fulfilled? From: GUEST,Ron Davies Date: 13 Apr 06 - 10:49 PM Sorry, "Martin", that won't play. No angel? How about a twisted individual who thinks it's fun to mock the handicapped, has wished a Mudcatter's child dead, is a past master at misogyny, and an equal opportunity bigot, besides being the worst spokesman Israel ever had--as some Jewish posters have told you?. That's a little closer. Also fascinating that you have not rebutted my observation about backbone. QED |

Subject: RE: BS: What makes you happy? Fulfilled? From: GUEST Date: 15 Apr 06 - 07:28 AM This is a really interesting and thought-provoking thread. I haven't been a member of Mudcat for years. The insults and acrimony that unfortunately have been a part of this thread remind me why I became a non-member. A great pity. What makes me happy and fulfilled? What I've mentioned in this thread has reminded me: having good supportive friends who are there through good and bad, who are forgiving, do not judge hastily, and do not ruin their own lives and others' by bearing petty grudges. |
