Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Hickory Dickory Dock From: pavane Date: 21 Apr 06 - 09:15 AM I suppose we will have to bring up the old theory that Hickory Dickory Dock meant 8 9 10 in some variety of Celtic (or Druidic) language. Does anyone know where this supposition actually came from? Is it related to shepherds counting, which WAS often Celtic? (Yan Tan Tethera Pethera is one example in a song) |

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Hickory Dickory Dock From: Louie Roy Date: 23 Apr 06 - 01:21 PM There is an old story about a doctor who went into the same bar every day and ordered an almond daiquri and bullshitted with the bartender Dick. One day when he went in he ordered the usual, but the bartender didn't have any almond flavoring so he substituted with hickory flavoring. The doctor tasted his drink and asked the bartender if this is an Almond Daiquri Dick and the bartender replied no it's a Hickory Daiquiri Doc.Lame joke of the week |
