Subject: RE: Lyrics for shetland song From: The Shambles Date: 13 Feb 99 - 08:24 AM I lived in Shetland for many years and although there is a great musical interest, there are more tunes than songs. I must say the song is unknown to me, it does sound a little improbable, but if it exists I'm sure it will turn up here. I look forward to hearing a song that links Joe Hill with fishing and the Island of Foula? If it dosen't turn up I think I will have to write one. Baby-Faced Nelson, (the gangster) did come from the island of Bressay. |

Subject: RE: Lyrics for shetland song From: The Shambles Date: 14 Feb 99 - 05:16 AM I'm a little confused by this thread! Is the original poster of this, the same one that wanted the 'other' Joe Hill song? |

Subject: RE: Lyrics for shetland song From: Barbara Date: 14 Feb 99 - 06:45 AM Shambles, all weekend the 'Cat has been eating parts of people's messages, some more than others. Then when the next person posts, a missing bit of the message will show up in their post. I seriously doubt that the anonymous person at the top of the post is looking for Joe Hill. His (her) message ends at the word "Foul". The rest should be "..la Doon" and whatever else s/he said about the song may turn up on the end of another post to another thread. Does that help? Blessings, Barbara |

Subject: RE: Lyrics for shetland song From: Jim Dixon Date: 06 May 05 - 03:01 PM The song requested is probably ROWIN FOULA DOON (DA SONG O' DA PAPAMEN) recorded by Hom Bru on their album "Rowin Foula Doon," 2000. |

Subject: RE: Lyrics for shetland song From: Pauline L Date: 06 May 05 - 03:18 PM I love Shetland fiddle tunes. (I'm a fiddler.) I'd like to hear other people's comments on them, especially The Shambles, if you're still reading Mudcat. |
