For the benefit of all South Yorkshire folkies and any others within striking distance, Kiveton Park Folk Club is featuring the brilliantly talented Brian Peters next Tuesday 9th May. Brian is regarded by many as one of the top squeezebox players in the country, equally at home on melodeon or concertina. He's a bit handy on the guitar too! Mainly trad songs with a bit of contemporary material and possibly some blues and ragtime on the old box as well. Good company, cheap drinks, free grub/tea/coffee and a great performer. Can't be bad! See yer there.

Regards

Andy

I would recommend anyone who has not seen Brian Peters to get along to this gig. He's a fantastic performer and his playing is gob-smacking.
Nice friendly club too.

Dont miss Brian Peteres, he's great. And dont miss Kiveton either. To tell you the truth, I had never heard of Kiveton a week ago, and had no concept of that part of England at all. But I've just been boating down the tidal Trent, and then up the Chesterfield canal, and discovered a whole load of really interesting places about which I knew absolutely nothing. And there are some very cute bits round Kiveton!

He's an excellent folk singer and musician - I saw him perform at Stockton F.C. not so long ago. Highly recommended.

Brian Peters is also a featured performer at the Mystic Sea Music Festival, June 8-11, 2006 at Mystic Seaport in Mystic, CT.

Does he do any nautical songs?

If Andy says he's good then it's a pound to a pinch of snuff that he is. Get along there and support him.

Yes he does Charley - such as High Barbaree, Swansea Town and piracy ballads. He often appears in the UK as a duo with Jeff Davis, a name that'll be more familiar to you. I heartily endorse what Andy said at the top.
