Subject: BS: Happy Mother's Day From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 14 May 06 - 09:14 AM A Happy Mother's Day to all you Mothers, and all you who have "Mothered" others. This afternoon, we'll call my Mother and wish her a joyful (never mind "happy") Mother's Day, and I started Ruth off this morning with some gifts I cannot mention, and a card. She's upstairs rigtht now, listening to two CD set of Soul love ballads and picking out the ones she wants put on a special CD for her. She has given me two wonderful sons and a daughter from her first marriage, and I thank her for that. For those who have "Mothered," this is a wonderful time to remember them. One of my Aunts raised two nephews who were unwanted by their own parents, and I've seen that so often during my lifetime. What a gift to be a Mother to a child that was not your own.. through adoption, or just stepping in when a family member couldn't (or didn't want to) raise a child of theirs. My cousin, who couldn't have children and her husband, who was from India adopted a nice whose parents were killed in a fire, in India. There were several small children and each family member took one or two in. I raised my two sons pretty much on my own... during my first marriage, and then alone after the divorce when I was given sole custody. No one has soul custody. I tried very hard to be a Mother as well as a Father to my sons, but I tell ya, fellas: "Father will do the best he can, when the Mother is dead Father will do the best he can, when the Mother is dead Father will do the best he can, but no one can do you like your Mother can." Ain't it the truth. Have a beautiful day, all you Mothers! I've tried to be a Mother, and I simply wasn't up to it. It taught me more than anything else, how wonderful Mothers are.
