Subject: BS: Alternative NI Thread. Holidays ? From: Divis Sweeney Date: 27 May 06 - 04:09 PM Well any of you planning a holiday in Northern Ireland this year ? Really it's a great place and not at all expensive. Music great, food great and people great. Any memories of past holidays here ? |

Subject: RE: BS: Alternative NI Thread. Holidays ? From: Keith A of Hertford Date: 27 May 06 - 04:15 PM Many more visitors are going since the IRA stopped its action. The Giants Causway has seen a six fold increase and the pressure of tourism is starting to cause real problems there. The North East coast road is a wonderful drive. Also the lakes and hills of Fermanagh, but there is so much and the people friendly and welcoming. Keith. |

Subject: RE: BS: Alternative NI Thread. Holidays ? From: Ebbie Date: 27 May 06 - 09:55 PM Several musicians I know in Juneau have gone to northern Ireland and love it. One of them is Andy Ferguson, a fiddler. And Leif Saya, fiddler, and his guitarist mother, Lis, have been several times. Next time I'll give y'all a headsup! |

Subject: RE: BS: Alternative NI Thread. Holidays ? From: Divis Sweeney Date: 28 May 06 - 02:45 AM Ebbie there has been so much money recently been put in to developing culture and the arts. Many who used to visit the South now come North as it's so much cheaper. Now if only we could do something about the weather ! |

Subject: RE: BS: Alternative NI Thread. Holidays ? From: Ebbie Date: 28 May 06 - 03:45 AM So what's wrong with your weather? I live in Juneau, Alaska, where we get close to 100 inches of rain each year, not to mention OVER a hundred inches of snow, and only a little over 50 days each that are completely cloudless. And I love it! |

Wind blowing that would knock you off your feet ! Feels more like November that late Spring. Time to get out the jumper that I packed away ! |

Subject: RE: BS: Alternative NI Thread. Holidays ? From: GUEST Date: 28 May 06 - 09:27 AM British companies are investing heavily in NI. In Belfast you can now leave a job and get another tomorrow. It's a shame it couldn't have happened years ago but at least it is happening. |
