I've been away for a couple days and just noticed that it seems that the links at the bottom of each thread are ALL Total Union with God/The Only Way is Jesus/How to Know that God Loves You.


WHAT THE HELL GIVES HERE???? Should I be offended again???

I just did a random test.

Some threads didn't have those ads. But I'm not saying which ones as to do so might alert the higher power[s?]that be to also add them there -why I'm not sure.

But I will say that one of the ads attached to this post promotes a location that has decidedly colder weather than that place where bad people are said to go when their life on earth is ended.

Don't forget that the advertisers pay Google for the right to have their links put up wherever Google can do so - erhaps there are just not enough opportunities for Google to place them elsewhere?

Or have the Fundies finally launched their "Save an Evil Folkie" campaign - 'End of Days' and all that stuff, you know?

The Google adds are supposed to be "targeted" based on adjacent content, and there have been a number of long and active threads in which words were used that might suggest an interest in the subjects of the ads.

Apparently though, Google is like a few 'catters in snatching a word or two and then jumping to the bottom to post, without looking to see what's actually been said. Had Google read any of those threads before posting, different ads might have appeared ...

Or maybe "he of the other side" doesn't really need to advertise?

If anyone actually doesn't "get it", the google ads are just computer selected by key words. I have a wood carving of a mother holding a baby online, and four ads for baby scales are on the page just now.

The frightening part is (as Azizi notes), the links are fundie leaning.

But then, so is folk music. ;-)

I find it pretty interesting, what key word searching says about the people doing the searching, actually. I'm not certain what, if anything, it actually reveals about a group of people. Our local paper ran an article about the Google searches of our geographic area, and I found no epiphanies there. C'est la guerre.
