As fer that first one, well, I don't think I'v heard-tell about that in the mainstream media yet, but I miss a lot of news, so may've missed that nugget. Hey, JFK was a womanizer too, but had the good sense to roll around with Marilyn Monroe! *G* |

Subject: RE: BS: Does anyone here know more about this? From: Peace Date: 10 Jun 06 - 03:57 PM I can't see the main-stream press NOT being all over the story if it was true. |
Subject: RE: BS: Does anyone here know more about this? From: Ebbie Date: 10 Jun 06 - 04:13 PM The one part of that story that I know to be true is the 'husband' comment. I heard her myself say that on television. It still astonishes me that no one picked that up and ran with it. I suspect that it might be because few people's skirts are as clean as might be. |
Subject: RE: BS: Does anyone here know more about this? From: Peace Date: 10 Jun 06 - 04:15 PM If Bush is wearing a skirt, he's hooped for sure. |
Subject: RE: BS: Does anyone here know more about this? From: 282RA Date: 10 Jun 06 - 04:19 PM I wouldn't count on the mainstream press being all over this. They have been so complicit with Bush and his policies that they have proven themselves totally untrustworthy. If Laura Bush is staying at a hotel somewhere, it would certainly indicate something is wrong in the Bush marriage. I too heard the Rice "my husband" comment and it certainly is very, very odd. Lastly, I dont really care about Rense. I didn't ask about them, I asked if anyone knew anything more about this story. Please read what I'm asking and answer accordingly. |
Subject: RE: BS: Does anyone here know more about this? From: Peace Date: 10 Jun 06 - 04:22 PM The story is all over various blogs, etc. The 'my husband' remark has been noted by many folks, and it seems likely that Mrs Bush was at a hotel. That said, one wag noted that it could be the result of a spat resulting from the fact that the First Lady's poll results show 60% approval and George's only 29% (maybe 39%--can't recall). |
Subject: RE: BS: Does anyone here know more about this? From: Amos Date: 10 Jun 06 - 04:23 PM See the Madsen Report here which reports on the story several times between June 3 and present. As for the mainstream press, ya never know when they are likely to freak out like a spooked colt and veer away from a story. A |

Subject: RE: BS: Does anyone here know more about this? From: 282RA Date: 10 Jun 06 - 04:26 PM Since the 2nd link doesn't work here (it works everywhere else), here is what it says: Developing Story - Bush Marriage In Trouble Over Affair With Condi? Reported by Ellen - June 03, 2006 With all the hoopla over Monicagate, why is the mainstream media ignoring this piece of news from ex-CIA agent, Wayne Madsen? "A Mayflower Hotel staffer has confirmed that First Lady Laura Bush spent at least one night this past week at the hotel, which is four blocks north of the White House. Mrs. Bush reportedly moved out of the White House after a confrontation with President Bush over his on-going affair with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice." (June 3, 2006 post) ...A White House source, speaking on background, vehemently denied to WMR that there are marital problems between President Bush and First Lady Laura Bush over a reported extramarital affair between Mr. Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. However, two mainstream media sources have confirmed that their sources also have reported an ongoing affair between Mr. Bush and Rice. " (June 2, 2006 post) This would be a first if it is true--a president sleeping with his Secretary of State. It doesn't matter what other president's slept around. The point is, Bush is touted by religious conservatives as the moral choice. This is would pretty much drive a stake through his heart. It also puts Congress in the hotseat. They went after Clinton over his affair, they can't turn around and declare it non-impeachable when it's a republican president (not that they won't try). But the dems have to be careful not to pressure an impeachment just over the adultery. Clinton was acquitted and Bush will be too. They have to pile it on with everything Bush has done that he truly needs to be impeached for. |

Subject: RE: BS: Does anyone here know more about this? From: harpmolly Date: 10 Jun 06 - 04:48 PM I have to admit that this seems outlandish, even to me. It just doesn't, er, jell? gell? wha? However, if it were true, I would admit to a very shameful twinge of satisfaction. In early 1999, I moved out of my parents' house (about six months after graduating from college) because I couldn't stand anymore of my mother's obsession with the Lewinsky scandal. Having just had a double mastectomy (!!!) and having been confined to the house far too much for her own good (normally she's a social butterfly) my mother glued herself to Fox News and MSNBC and the Drudge report and became pretty much impossible to live with. In addition to the misery of being exposed to this drivel nonstop, I had to suffer the indignity of remarks like, "You and your liberal Democrat friends sure are squirming now!" which was particularly outrageous given that I am and always have been an independent, preferring to choose my candidates by conscience rather than by party. Ahhh, revenge would be sweet. We get along much better now. Of course, I'm going to be seeing her (and going on a road trip) in a few weeks. I think we're going to have to establish an Ann-Coulter-free-zone in the car, though, or else I'll probably open a window and eject myself out at seventy miles an hour somewhere between Reno and Ashland, Oregon. Sigh. ANYWAY. The thought of George and Condi severely creeps me out, I must confess. But it would be intriguing to see how the media handled it. Do you think they could "9/11" themselves out of this one? M |
Subject: RE: BS: Does anyone here know more about this? From: Stilly River Sage Date: 10 Jun 06 - 04:57 PM Oh, come on, folks! As much as I detest Shrub, this "story" is just that--a story. No attributions, no nothing except a few essentially anonymous words. It might be wishful thinking. Probably is. Maybe someone is testing their ability to start a rumor or a hoax. There's a lunatic fringe on the right AND the left, you know. SRS |
Subject: RE: BS: Does anyone here know more about this? From: Amos Date: 10 Jun 06 - 05:02 PM Ah, Stilly, as always the voice of reason. Thing is, his level of reason is just low enough that it could be true. I suspect it is not, though. Madsen's site also contains an assertion from an ex-dominatrix who says Bush was a client. There's a scandal I'd love to see fly. A |

Subject: RE: BS: Does anyone here know more about this? From: Little Hawk Date: 10 Jun 06 - 08:40 PM It's kind of odd...because I can really see those two having an affair. It's an idea that's floated into my mind (Bush & Condi) many times, but I didn't really pay much attention to the thought. Still, it sort of seems to fit. Well, we'll wait and see if anything further is heard about this. If she called him "my husband" when speaking to the press, that's a slip that is just too Freudian to be an accident, in my opinion. Sounds like a match made in hell to me. |
Subject: RE: BS: Does anyone here know more about this? From: Ebbie Date: 10 Jun 06 - 08:51 PM That's my thinking, Little Hawk. When you have never been married and you are not in a romantic relationship with the one you work for, you just plain don't stumble into "my husband". Unless- well, maybe she has a fantasy romance going with him? Which doesn't ease my mind, actually. Sometimes we tend to forget, I think, that these are people who have access to and the power to press the button. What a lame world. |
Subject: RE: BS: Does anyone here know more about this? From: Little Hawk Date: 10 Jun 06 - 09:56 PM Well, they're just fallible human beings like the rest of us, after all. Why would it be surprising that politicians have clandestine affaires and foolish lapses in judgement and fall prey to the same common weaknesses that beset the rest of mankind? |
Subject: RE: BS: Does anyone here know more about this? From: JohnInKansas Date: 10 Jun 06 - 10:45 PM Amos - I'm afraid the Madsen Report sort of "boggled" my mind. It all sounds so reasonable, but ... (well, there's a lot of it). And what's this thing about the old affair with "Victor?" One scary part is that although his "news" is dominated by spewings about the Republocrats, reasonable enough I suppose since they're the ones in the news, he's also pretty vicious with some old Democans from the recent past. The really scary part is that I didn't find anything that surprised me in his reports on anyone. I hope I'm not becoming cynical. John |
Subject: RE: BS: Does anyone here know more about this? From: Rapparee Date: 10 Jun 06 - 10:59 PM Oh, surely not! W is a good born-agin who wears fundie undies and would never do something like that! Besides, I'm sure he gave all that up when he was honorably discharged from the Texas Air Guard, having defended the US against Viet Cong infiltrators who had swum across the ocean breathing through straws and were ready to move against the beaches of Texas. Yes, in company with Cheney and Rumsfeld and Gingerich, W stood firm, his rifle in hand, defending America. And we have to cut him some slack during his military service, 'cause you know how flyboys are (wink, wink). But I'm sure he gave up his wild and crazy days when he went to Yale, yah sure. Actually, it wouldn't surprise me. "Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac," said Henry Kissinger, and I'm sure Condi knows how to use it. |

Subject: RE: BS: Does anyone here know more about this? From: dianavan Date: 11 Jun 06 - 12:06 AM I doubt if it is true but it sure makes a good story. "...an ex-dominatrix?" Well that definitely fits. I can see Condi as the dominatrix and Georgie Porgie wanting to be punished for his sins. A marriage made in heaven er I mean hell. I agree that if you have never been married, you are unlikely to call someone your husband, even accidently. What was that about? |

Subject: RE: BS: Does anyone here know more about this? From: 282RA Date: 11 Jun 06 - 12:29 AM We can joke about it--might as well--but we also need to ask ourselves what this means to our country if it is true. I mean, HO-LEE SHEEIT!!! The consequences are mostly unpredictable but they are far-reaching. Quite frankly, it will almost certainly destroy this administration. Lying to get us into a quagmire of a war, getting tens of thousands killed, spying on fellow Americans, abducting people and sending them to secret prisons, openly defending the use of torture--demanding it even, holding people in a Cuban prison for years without a trial until some commit suicide, widening the deficit, jacking up the price of oil, allowing billions of dollars to be stolen by unscrupulous contractors, not only taking $100,000 from a man he claims he doesn't know and then brazenly keeping $96,000 of it when every member of Congress who took money gave it all back or donated it, in none of this is enough to outrage the American people, an affair between Jorge and Condi will certainly do it. Part of me delights in this story and therefore finds it too good to be true. But another part of me is scared of the implications if this story is true which leads me to believe it could well be true. Someone else said it, Bush's level of reason is at a level where you simply cannot discount it. I didn't believe it about Clinton and Lewinsky at first either. But there IS that troubling "my husband" remark. That's certainly smoke. And where there's smoke... |
