I looked, but couldn't find, a thank you thread. Hope you don't mind a guest starting one.

So, thanks for being here! I'm a beginner guitar player, learning partly because I'll never hear some of the odd songs I like unless I play 'em myself.

Thanks to Mudcat, I've found, among other things, some words I was missing to Voodoo Queen Marie (Holy Modal Rounders), in a five year old thread. Fantastic!

Good luck to you, Bee.

The total amount of information available at and through Mudcat is so great it defies description. I will take this opportunity to thank Mudcat for being here too.

It has been of immeasuralble value to me as well.

At the start of my day, first I check if I'm alive, then I check my own web site, then I settle down to catch up on the erudition, vituperation, and joy, that is the Mudcat.
I love it dearly.
Giok

Fat B., it is indeed about Marie Leveau. I was a HMR fan in the 70s (never met a Rounder Record, who sold HMR, I didn't enjoy, either), and a fan of Louisiana stories (never been there, but Nova Scotia has the Acadian connection, so we meet a fair number of Cajuns on roots searches here).

Open Mike, I haven't registered on a forum in several years, but I did have a look just now at the membership/registration form. I understand the requested info is kept reasonably private, but the sheer scope - phone number? address? - of identifiers does intimidate me a bit. I've been 'found' before, through a forum, although fortunately by perfectly nice people.

No, really, I'm not paranoid... maybe just a tetch. I will consider it well, since I very much appeciate and would like to support this place.

Guest Bee, I've been a Mudcat member for 7-8 years and have never received anything unwanted and unasked for that I even suspected might have been due to this membership. How wonderful that you've made such good use of the 'Cat already. I've not had much time to be on lately, but am very grateful, and thankful,l this community lives in my computer.

This is not only a place for Odd Songs, Bee. But there's also a lot of odd people here too, and 'most all of them are nice.

Welcome aboard.

Bert, you callin' me odd? You callin' me odd? Huh?

Well, maybe I am odd, but just a little bit. Never mind.

Welcome around, Bee. I've never had a problem with my name/address/phone number being listed. If you really are worried, join but don't list them. Just put in your city and state (assuming you're in the US). Then you can use the PM function, post a profile and photo if you want to, and do all the full member thingies.

Welcome, Bee.

The only things I've received unwanted and unasked for over the years have been:

love
support
encouragement
advice
gifts
more love
more encouragement
inspiration
exposure to all kinds of music, people, cultures

Good luck with all that.

Dani

Bee .... it has never occurred to me that I might be at any kind of risk here at Mudcat.
Information is indeed kept by the powers that be, never to be divulged to the general public.

Problems do occur but are usually dealt with swiftly and effectively by the management.

I have yet to meet a Mudcatter that I don't get on with and have enjoyed every bit of Mudcat from the moment that I joined.

Being a member has so many benefits, particularly being able to join Mudchat.

But whatever you decide ...... welcome to Mudcat.

Hazel
