Does anyone know of an arrangement of this song for ACCORDION!!
The Who do it with a BANJO solo but there is no SQUEEZEBOX!!

any kind of sheet music, midi or songs we can hear on line would be so appreciate.

Uh...guys...it's a metaphor.

There's no actual free-reed instrument involved.

Though I guess 'bellows' might be a fair analogy.

You see you take yer...oh, never mind

Jes hit his a meta4 but da meta4 is a SQUEEZEBOX!!!

Look troughout all of poopular music and try to find cheesy steel guitar and banjo (the instruments featured in the song) being used as a meta4 4 the flower of a woman!

Now are ya gonna make snide comments or are ya going to try to help???

(Either way is OK. ;-)

How about trying it with a Ebow instead ... but it works better with an amplified geetar.

John Kirkpatrick and Chris Parkinson (Sultans of Squeeze) have recorded Pete Townshend's Squeezebox on their CD "England" - might be worth listening to that?

Townsend when interviewed many years back said the inspiration for the song was the Dagenham Girl Pipers.
Quack!

It is indeed. I'm sure it will sound fine with an actual squeezebox, but I think the power of the original was greatly enhanced by not using an accordion. The sound was imitated by a swirly guitar, and it sounded fabulous.

Greg
The original featured steel guitar and banjo.

I found a bunch of covers on allmusic.com and listened to samples on Amazon. A couple seem pretty good. I like Chubby Carrier's Cajun version the best. I'd still like to sample
John Kirkpatrick and Chris Parkinson, doing it.

JacK: I've never heard the cajun version, that sounds a brilliant idea. I must chase it up.
Do you play piano or button accordion?

Hi Jack & Carol,

A friend of mine wrote the tune out and I've got a copy as a Noteworthy Composer file. We used to play it in the band I was in at the time (with melodeons & piano accordion) - If you pm me I can email you a copy of the dots or if you use Noteworthy a copy of the file.

Regards

Marion

Here you go...

SQUEEZEBOX
The Who

(G) Mama's got a squeezebox, she wears on her chest
And when daddy comes home he never gets no rest
'Cause she's (D) playing all night
And the (C) music's alright
(D) Mama's got a squeezebox, (C) daddy never sleeps at (G) night

Well the kids don't eat and the dog can't sleep
There's no escape from the music in the whole damn street
'Cause she's playing all night
And the music's alright
Mama's got a squeezebox, daddy never sleeps at night

She goes in and out and in and out
And in and out and in and out
She's playing all night
And the music's alright
Mama's got a squeezebox, daddy never sleeps at night

(G) She goes "Squeeze me,
Come on and squeeze me
Come on and (C) squeeze me (G) like you (D) do
I'm (G) so in (C) love with you."
(D) Mama's got a squeezebox, (C) daddy never sleeps at (G) night

She goes in and out and in and out
And in and out and in and out
She's playing all night
And the music's alright
Mama's got a squeezebox, daddy never sleeps at night
