Subject: BS: When Tempted To Post In A Lost Cause From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 09 Aug 06 - 09:32 AM Awright: This thread is started as a dumping ground. When you feel the overwhelming urge to post to a thread that about a subject that has repeatedly been beaten into the ground, only to arise from the ashes, waste your post here instead. We all talk about resisting the urge to post to irritating threads that lead nowhere, and yet we all give in. So, if you see a thread that has endless cut and pastes in it and you can't control yourself, dump on me. I can handle it. Lovely day we're having, isn't it? And what about those Red Sox. Ever have a hangnail? Irritating, aren't they? I'm feeling a lot better already.. Jerry |

Subject: RE: BS: When Tempted To Post In A Lost Cause From: MMario Date: 09 Aug 06 - 09:36 AM I always hate it when my buttons get pushed, the worst part is knowing you are reacting to a butoon-pushing and you react anyway. meanwhile in time-traveling I gave the queen a present last saturday - but I forgot to save the url of the pictures. maybe later. |

Subject: RE: BS: When Tempted To Post In A Lost Cause From: BuckMulligan Date: 09 Aug 06 - 10:22 AM So, this then, shall be the future venue for all those "incorrect language/usage peeves" threads? For they are epitomically lost cause-ish. For language does its own thing, and one of the things that it always does is change with usage. Posting against that is shoveling shit against the tide. Jerry you're a veritable King Canute. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: When Tempted To Post In A Lost Cause From: GUEST Date: 09 Aug 06 - 10:26 AM Jerry is like a lot of Mudcat members, who believe they should be able to control the way other people behave. I know, I KNOW. Jerry has blessedly Christian good intentions. He wants to End Chat Forum Strife. He, like many people who get sucked into arguing on threads, doesn't like arguing. Yet, he also cannot resist intervening, whether in the thread that pissed him off enough to start THIS thread (I call these 'antidote' threads) or in this one. You see, this is the exact behavior that makes this place a flame war and trollers paradise. |

Subject: RE: BS: When Tempted To Post In A Lost Cause From: GUEST,Russ Date: 09 Aug 06 - 11:11 AM Jerry, Call me dense, but I still don't know what this thread is for. What do you mean by "a thread that about a subject that has repeatedly been beaten into the ground, only to arise from the ashes" I should mention that I am the originator of a widely ignored thread about reinventing the wheel. Russ (mostly invisible GUEST) |

Subject: RE: BS: When Tempted To Post In A Lost Cause From: GUEST Date: 09 Aug 06 - 11:32 AM Russ, I believe this is a thread either about people who love buttons, or have fingers with which to manipulate buttons. Of course, what I believe doesn't matter, because I am a member of downtrodden Mudcat minority, usually painted in a stereotypical manner, as are you. And it's obvious what Jerry has going for himself. He is popular and well liked. And popular people can do no wrong, whether in 7th grade slam books, or on Mudcat, or in elections. |

Subject: RE: BS: When Tempted To Post In A Lost Cause From: Bill D Date: 09 Aug 06 - 11:32 AM Will everyone PLEASE learn the difference between 'accept' and 'except'? How's that for a lost cause? If you've already mastered that one, you may proceed to ridding your posts of broad generalizations about hot topics... "All the ******** are full of ****** and should all be ******!" Boy, can I pick lost causes, or what? |

Subject: RE: BS: When Tempted To Post In A Lost Cause From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 09 Aug 06 - 11:34 AM Hey, Mostly Invisible Russ: When you figure out what this thread is about, let me know, will ya? Hey, maybe I'll bring your thread about re-inventing the wheel back up out of the ashes. I've done my share of widely ignored threads, too. They also serve what disappear. Funny thing about reinventing the wheel. I've spent my whole life doing that. I'll learn something the hard way and think to myself, "I'll never do THAAAAT again!" Sooner or later, I do. It's not so much that I am a slow learner. I'm just a fast forgetter.. Jerry |

Subject: RE: BS: When Tempted To Post In A Lost Cause From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 10 Aug 06 - 12:51 AM Here's somebody who has reinvented the wheel... The Vulcan Wheel is an ergonomically designed one-piece extruded aluminium wheelchair wheel for use in general travel and sport. The unique Vulcan design has streamlined both the push rim and wheel rim of a conventional wheelchair wheel and provides the user with maximum surface area to push. |

Subject: RE: BS: When Tempted To Post In A Lost Cause From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 10 Aug 06 - 01:03 AM Actually, there are people successfully reinventing the wheel all the time... The Beach Trekker is a specially designed track wheel fitted to a wheelchair that allows people with disabilities to be transported by a carer over dry, soft and wet sand and then directly into the water at a beach. It is also able to traverse all surfaces that disabled people encounter, ie. kerbs, asphalt and even stairs. |
