Subject: BS: Blind River bombs! From: GUEST,Clayton Cuddings Date: 11 Aug 06 - 05:17 PM In a survey of 2017 different communities across Ontario, Canada, Blind River came in last as a place where anyone would want to live or bring up their children. Competition was fierce for the final spot with places in the running such as... Timmins - "A little piece of hell." Elliot Lake - "Been there? Don't bother." Sudbury - "A pretty big piece of hell." North Bay - "A great place to get drunk in, cos there's really nothing else to do." Windsor - "It's always been terrible here, but it got way worse after Clinton Hammond arrived, and he won't leave." Toronto - "A simply gigantic piece of hell! But the restaurants are great." Spanish - "Almost as bad as Blind River." Massey - "Almost as bad as Spanish." Sault Sainte Marie - "Worse than Massey. Worse than Sudbury. Worse than North Bay. But...not quite as bad as Blind River." Wawa - "It sounds godawful, and it is!" Capuscasing - "Even the mosquitos want to leave!" Yup. There are a lot of places in Ontario that are less than perfect. There are some that are so damn awful that it's hard to describe. But there are NONE that can match Blind River for sheer, gut-wrenching mediocrity, ugliness, pointlessness, vacuity, and stupidity that will freeze your blood in your veins, knock your socks off, and leave you for dead. Blind River. The worst. |

Subject: RE: BS: Blind River bombs! From: GUEST,Blind DRunk in Blind River Date: 11 Aug 06 - 07:39 PM I bet Udney is a flippin' hole! Blind River rates bigtime and I am gonna tell you why. We got the Iron Horse Tavern. I drink there regular when I got the money. We got wet T-shirt contests. We got more snowmobiles stolen per year than most places. We got the basic ameenities is what I'm sayin'. We might not have the CN-flippin'-Tower but we still rate. We put places like Wawa and Udney totally to shame! - Shane |

Subject: RE: BS: Blind River bombs! From: JohnInKansas Date: 12 Aug 06 - 04:03 AM The ministers at the two Wichita Kansas congregations that led the recent campaign for the amendment of the Kansas State Constitution to ban gay marriage BOTH HAVE RESIGNED. (i.e. are available) Should they be both dispatched to elevate the status of Blind River, or will one be enough? Either quite likely could "get down to Fundamentals" with the populace wherever they might land. John |

Subject: RE: BS: Blind River bombs! From: Peace Date: 12 Aug 06 - 05:55 AM Did they resign together? Where are they now? How far is Wichita from Reno? |

Subject: RE: BS: Blind River bombs! From: *daylia* Date: 12 Aug 06 - 08:41 AM No mention of Niagara Falls? Hmph! How 'bout a place like that, where the people- watching competes with the nature-watching, neck'n'neck? On the walkway overlooking the Falls, one can immerse oneself in the multi-colored diversely-garbed human swarm and water-gaze for hours, without hearing one word of English. East Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, German etc etc etc ... after a while, it becomes like music to your ears. Easy listening, kinda. I stood looking across the Horseshoe Falls to the USA for a long, long time yesterday. As those famous mists billowed up, showering the onlookers like a steady gentle rain, a big double rainbow kept appearing and disappearing against the setting sun. Arching over the raging emerald/whitewater, from the 'American side' to the 'Canadian side'. A Rainbow bridge, a promise of peace. Even with one 'foot' on each side of the border, no one suspected it of terrorism, or asked to see it's ID. That was a comforting thought, somehow. And the fact that the white inhabitants of North America were actually able to divvy that incredible Power Place up between them so long ago, while avoiding doing each other in over it (although they did give it their best shot for awhile!) is amazing indeed. To me, anyway. May it always be so. But if you fo visit Niagara, be sure to bring a cooler full of bottled water and lots of snacks as well as your camera. It's pretty ironic that in a park which draws millions of people from around the world and is home to a sizeable portion of the entire continent's fresh water, there's not one drinking fountain in working order. Not ONE, that I saw anyway! And a bottle of drinking water costs $3.50 Cdn, or $2.50 US. BUt don't sweat it - there's even vending machines specially made for American one-dollar bills. It's also the only place in the world I ever saw $15 forked out for a cheeseburger 8~) Hey, wonder what a burger and a bottle of water costs in Blind River these days ... |
