Check it out. A 78 year old widower from UK who goes by the handle geriatric1927 has become the latest sensation on the video-sharing website YouTube. He has learned how to create videos with a cam and upload them, and at the prompting of thousands of younger youtubers, is telling his life story through video. He loves motorcycles and the blues, and the younger folks are loving him. He has really connected with his audience, and if you have a high bandwidth connection I think you'll really enjoy it.

I listened to all three parts and enjoyed them. I'll check back on a later date.

I like the image of a grandfatherly figure sitting by a crackling fire and telling stories to youngsters of days gone. Many families no longer have that kind of time- even if they had grandfather living with them.

There is a lot of great folk and blues stuff starting to show up at YouTube!

I posted a thread in the Mudcat music section w/links to some great music videos last week that can be found at YouTube.com. They included OLD video of Planxty, and an Irish television special honoring Francie Mooney, father of Maighread Ni Mhaonaigh of Altan.

Not too many people who post to this website seem very interested in what is happening musically online beyond this forum, however. As we can see by the lack of response to my thread in the music section last week, or this thread this week.

Many people do go to Youtube. The fact that there was little response to your threads could be the result of your supercilious attitude which shines through SO clearly. After this, I won't open any of them again.

it would be great if it was all positive
the gentleman is sending his video out
there with the best of intentions and
some of the comments that are posted
are positively horrid. threats, and
ugly comments...totally unwarranted.

yes there are some amazing videos
archived there...some very historical
and wonderful shows and movies.

a great resource. let's hope it
remains available and is not
ruined by the rotten apples
that take advantage of it.
