Subject: BS: Beechy struck off ? From: GUEST,Debs Healey Date: 24 Aug 06 - 07:00 PM I am in a total state of shock tonight after hearing that celebrity therapist Beechy Colclough could be struck off for having several affairs with young women patients. He always used soothing New Age music in the background and the heady fragrance from a smouldering incense. His office was in Harley Street. With his illustrious reputation this man helped an array of celebrities with their addictions, such as Elton John, Michael Jackson, Robbie Williams, Paul Gascoigne, comedienne Caroline Aherne and model Kate Moss. Today a young mother in a statement to the press said, Within a few weeks his shoulder massages had given way to something far more intimate when he asked me to lie on cushions on the floor so he could massage my back and legs — telling me this helped build intimacy and trust. A month after that, he suggested undoing my bra straps, then hitching up my skirt telling me I needed a length. No prizes for guessing the rest of the story. In another statement, A young lady spoke about her six-month 'therapy' course. She claimed he sent her lurid text messages and a camera phone picture of himself naked sitting on the toilet. They conducted an affair in his office — eventually leaving her feeling 'humiliated and used' after he told her at the age of 32, she had too many birthdays for him. Two more women have come forward to describe to the Daily Mail their disturbing experiences with the respected author and one-time GMTV favourite. One of them, Janet Bell, is filing a complaint to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), which bans sexual relationships between therapists and patients as an abuse of trust. Tonight the BACP said Colclough is under investigation, and confirmed that any member found guilty of an inappropriate relationship with a patient can and will be expelled — although this in itself could not stop a therapist practising outside its organisation. What a reverse for the man who was the 'stars' shrink', yet professed to find greater satisfaction helping Joe Public; a man who seemed to have conquered his own addictions in triumphant fashion and whose experiences gave him a unique insight into others' demons. Born Beauchamp Owen Colclough in Belfast in 1948, one of eight children of an alcoholic Roman Catholic tailor, Beechy was addicted to drink by the age of 14. The next 20 years passed in an alcoholic haze as he pursued a career as a drummer in the Irish band "Cavehill" until his boozing reduced him to a down-and-out. His epiphany came one morning when he woke up under a lamp-post to find a dog urinating on him. His first marriage, which produced two children, collapsed. Realising he was at rock bottom, he started going to Alcoholics Anonymous and then went into Broadreach House, a drying-out centre in Plymouth where he later trained as a therapist. |

Subject: RE: BS: Beechy struck off ? From: Welshman Date: 05 Jul 07 - 04:47 PM Yes he was struck off and undoubtedly many people felt that had (possible/ probable) cause for complaint but those of us that knew Beechy can still remember a man that once had integrity and honour. You'll probably never read this Beechy But my prayers are with you. Be well and may you find again the serenity you once possessed. D |
