23 years ago I envisioned a cure for MS by taking mylynial cells from a MS patient, growing them en masse, and reinjecting them into the spinal fluid.
I don't know if anyone has yet tried this but they are using this technique for people with Parkinsons.

Regenerative medicine is showing great progress as of late. They have grown new bladders for people and are hard at work generating new isles of langerhan cells for people with diabetes.

When they use a patients own cells (ontologists) the results are much preferred to using donor cells.

Growing organs with disease is also being attempted so research can be done seeking cures without endangering an "entire" patient.

One should not expect enhancement beyond what they are born with but regenerative medicine is the step forward that will make current medicine seem primitive.

Helping the blind to see and the crippled walk are but a few of the benefits of regenerative medical research that is proceeding at the NIH under the direction of Dr. Pedegrew and others.

I'll have a cheeseburger and a side of brain cells.

Dr. Rosenberg, also at the NIH, has completely cured 2 patients of advanced melanoma that had metastisized in the liver by geneticly re engineering the patients own immune cells into tumor eating cells.
This is a first!

Yeah growing cartilige or spinal disks sure beats bone fusion.
