Subject: BS: $45M of dirt.... From: Bobert Date: 10 Sep 06 - 11:09 AM Well, well, well... Looks as if the Grand old Party has finally come up with their strategy to limit their losses in the upcoming election and that is... ...dirt, dirt and more dirt!!! Yazzir, in this morning's Washington Post there is an article entited "In Pivotal Year, GOP Plans to Get Personal", written by Jim VandeHei and Chris Cillizza, in which they report that the RNC is planning on using 90% of the $50M they have for congressional races to investigate Dem opponents and turn whatever they can find into a full blown negative attack ad stategy... So, folks, if you think you've seen some negative camopaign in the past, hold onto the handle bars real tight 'cause this one is going to make Lee Atwater smile in his grave... |

Subject: RE: BS: $45M of dirt.... From: Old Guy Date: 11 Sep 06 - 09:04 AM Chuck Schumer's researcher at the DSCC has plead guilty to stealing Maryland Lt. Governor Michael Steele's credit report, and — as Democrats tend to — will avoid jail time... A former Democratic staffer pleaded guilty today to computer fraud for snooping on Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele. Under the plea agreement in U.S. District Court, Lauren B. Weiner, 25, avoids jail time, but she has a year to do 150 hours of community service. Steele -- a Republican running for U.S. Senate -- was notified by Democrats in Washington that a staffer used Steele's Social Security number to obtain his credit report last year. Weiner was fired from the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee after the breach was discovered. Missing from both the story and the plea is the name of Chuck Schumer, the chairman of the DSCC, for whom Weiner was working for. But the matter is not over yet, as Michael Steele may sue... |

Subject: RE: BS: $45M of dirt.... From: Rapparee Date: 11 Sep 06 - 09:25 AM I think people are very, very tired of attacks and this strategy may well backfire on WHOEVER tries it. |

Subject: RE: BS: $45M of dirt.... From: Bobert Date: 11 Sep 06 - 09:36 AM Oh, horrors!!! Accessing Lt. Governor's credit report!!! Say it ain't so, Old Guy!!! Say it ain't so... But it's okay to cook intellegence, lie to American people and take the country into a quagmire??? But don't access anyone's credit report... Horrors!!! And it's okay for the RNC to annouince that it's going to spend 90% of it's sizable war chest conducting personal attacks on Dems??? (But, gee, Bobert... A staffer somehow accessin' Steele's credit report is some serious business, ain't it?) Well, yeah, but in the big scheme of things its like challenging a guy in a tank to a duel and all you got is a BB gun... But nice try, Old Guy, to do what you do best... Change the subject... That's purdy much all that you Repubs have left since you won't stand up and defend your policies or issues... Yeah, just keep changing the subject... Normal... Bobert |

Subject: RE: BS: $45M of dirt.... From: Old Guy Date: 11 Sep 06 - 01:20 PM Yess Bobert of infinite rhetoric, I am afraid to say it is so. Democrats did illegal things dig up some dirt on their oponents. But if Republican does research, it is evil in your opinion. I thought you said crooks were the problem. Is someone that falsely obtains someone elses credit report and uses their SS# not a crook? Your WAPO is leading you to the dark side once again. |

Subject: RE: BS: $45M of dirt.... From: Bobert Date: 11 Sep 06 - 05:01 PM It ain't the illegal stuff that bothers me, Oldster, it's the stuff that can be twisted slightly to look fishy and then the underfunded Dem has to use scarce money to answer these charges... Plus, once a suggestion of wrong doing, irregarless of the wrongness of the deed, is planted it takes alot more advertising money to undo the damage... This is the Repub starategy.... Attack, attack, attack so you don't end up havin' to defend, defend, defend... We know that Repubs ***hate*** having to defend their policies and rcords... Bobert |

Subject: RE: BS: $45M of dirt.... From: Old Guy Date: 12 Sep 06 - 01:22 AM Under funded? Never if sorros has anything to do with it. George Soros told a carefully vetted gathering of 70 likeminded millionaires and billionaires last weekend that they must be patient if they want to realize long-term political and ideological yields from an expected massive investment in "startup" progressive think tanks. The Scottsdale, Ariz., meeting, called to start the process of building an ideas production line for liberal politicians, began what organizers hope will be a long dialogue with the "partners," many from the high-tech industry. Participants have begun to refer to themselves as the Phoenix Group. Rob Stein, a veteran of President Bill Clinton's Commerce Department and of New York investment banking, convened the meeting of venture capitalists, left-leaning moneymen and a select few D.C. strategists on how to seed pro-Democratic think tanks, media outlets and leadership schools to compete with such entrenched conservative institutions as the Heritage Foundation, the American Enterprise Institute and the Leadership Institute. http://www.hillnews.com/thehill/export/TheHill/News/Frontpage/042005/soros.html |
