Oh, I live in wheat country, and wheat sheaves would be fine with me.

The pumpkins do show up MUCH better than the turnip, tho'

I'll be in the rocker with a large black longhair purring on my lap.

As I was walking down the stair
I saw a man who wasn't there
He wasn't there, again, today
Oh How I wish he'd go away

My family's favortie ghost poem. Ahem:

Early one morning, late one night
Two dead boys got up to fight.
Back to back they faced each other,
Drew their swords and shot earch other.
Two deaf policemen heard the noise
And they came running and shot the two dead boys.

It always frightens me to the very core of my being and then I get all choked up with emotion.

I hope you weren't TOO frightened by it.

Costume contest.

Group singing of "With 'er 'ead - tucked - underneath 'er arm"

Scary stories in the basement by lanternlight.

What shall we have by the fireside?

Decorate with pumpkins and cornstalks.

Should we be thinking about Haloween decorations yet. We were very impressed when we visited last year, passing through Pennsylvania, seeing all the porches and gardens decked out with witches in rocking chairs and ghosts in the trees and pumpkins and the like.

What would you U.S.A.tians suggest for the Tavern?

Quack!
Geoff.

"How do we know that the Squid isn't an Olympian in disguise?"

Because squids aren't allowed into the Olympics due to the fact that we can multitask in the field events and run rings around all the swimmers. However, some of us do live on mountain tops and hurl lightening bolts from the clouds. Plays havoc with the tentacles though if you can't let go quickly enough. Very painful is a singed sucker.

I'll get me mantle.......

the Olympian gods weren't Omniscient though, were they? seems to me they were tricked and fooled and hidden from a lot and that couldn't have happened to a being possessed of Omniscience could it?

True, Big Z, spelling isn't in the job description. But "Omniscience" is one of the basic qualifications. And as the you Greeks say, "Καλύψτε τις απαιτήσεις ή είστε ιστορία."

Actually, Mortal, I'm quite partial to cake.

Goes nicely with a bowl of Ambrosia.

Just because the atmosphete on Olympus is quite rarified doesn't mean we are out of touch with you ephemerals.

The good thing about being a squid is you can hold all the parts of a flat pack together and put the screws in at the same time. Took me no time at all to do my kitchen!!!

WILDEBEEST!!!!!!! GNUS!!!!!!!! The Tavern's noisy enough as it is what with ducks and elephants, let alone great herds of cloven hoofed beasties gallumphing about the place.

At least we squids slither about quietly. Apart from the rutting season, of course.
