That means goats are out and llamas are where it's at.

I think it's a case of political hubris. "A man's reach should exceed his grasp/Or what's a heaven for?" Browning wrote, but it helps to be able to grasp with your whole hand -- or at least your fingertips -- when you're trying to hang on.

Nope. In a weird way, this is working perfectly. The news is not reporting the carnage in Iraq over the last few days, or the looming North Korean nuke test, or the redeployment of naval forces towards Iran, or the records that indicate that Condi Rice has lied through her teeth about 9/11 warnings.

Meanwhile Limbaugh, Hannity, Drudge, et al. are already spinning this as a partisan, hateful, "Democrat" plot.

My faith in the judgement of the American electorate is so shaken, that I see it actually working.

Besides, as you yourself said before the last election Bobert, the Dem's will have to win by nearly a landlside to overcome the vote theft that gives Repubs and instant 5 to 10 point lead.

Actually, I was drifting away from the ship when I did fart in my spacesuit.   The gas changed my vector and velocity just enough that I was able to get back to the ship. My life was saved and so were those of the rest of the crew, as I had the only key to the toilet with me at the time. We'd had burritos for dinner, and I'll leave the rest to your imagination.

Check the news a little more carefully. There were several little items that looked like they could have been shots at an "October surprise," including the Saddam conviction, but none of them washed. What with all the corruption charges and scandals on the Republican side, it looked to me like they were just too busy ducking and running to come up with much of anything. Out of ammo.
