Subject: RE: New Session in Wandsworth From: GUEST,Hootenanny Date: 12 Oct 06 - 05:29 AM Just bear in mind that Youngs Brewery in Wandsworth is now closed. The beer is no longer brewed at Wandsworth but by Charles Wells. Will it taste the same ? Hopefully so as Wells's Bombardier is certainly more than acceptable. Sorry, am I going off thread? |

Subject: RE: New Session in Wandsworth From: Girl Friday Date: 12 Oct 06 - 09:02 PM This is the first I've heard about Youngs Brewery closing. It was one of the last breweries still delivering locally by horse drawn dray. They used to draw water from the River Wandle, so it ought not to taste the same. I was never keen on it anyway. |

Subject: RE: New Session in Wandsworth From: My guru always said Date: 13 Oct 06 - 05:46 AM This is good news!! May even make it all the way from Leatherhead one day. Have a good one & hope it continues! Does this mean that one can sing 'Oh no, not the Fields of Athenry'? |

Subject: RE: New Session in Wandsworth From: The Walrus Date: 13 Oct 06 - 02:33 PM "...They used to draw water from the River Wandle..." I live near the Wandle, I remember a time when analysis showed it to be less tthan 50% water at one spot (fortunately a long way from the brewery). W |
