Subject: RE: Canadian Mudcat Meet: Ormstown Quebec-July From: Beer Date: 10 Jun 07 - 11:54 PM Hay Bee! where are you? Not interested any more? Number 6, did I say something to piss you off? You sure were interested in coming a while ago. But no response from a friend is not acceptable. If you folks out there who have expressed interest in coming can't make it that is fine. But don't be silent about it. An up set but still understanding member. Beer (adrien) |
Subject: RE: Canadian Mudcat Meet: Ormstown Quebec-July From: Beer Date: 09 Jun 07 - 10:36 PM Thanks Bobad for refreshing. Been really busy trying to sell advance tickets since last Thursday evening at the yearly Ormstown fair and haven't had much time for the Mudcat. Getting great responses from the line up and looks as if this year just might be the one that breaks us wide open. Still hoping that some of the members that expressed such great enthusiasm a while back would do so again. Here is still hoping. Beer (adrien) |

Wish I had some Canadian Tire money to send up to help pay for some of the Gas. All the best to you Rags. Beer (adrien) P.S. I better look over my p.m. messages to make sure I haven't forgotten anyone or questions that may have been asked. |

Subject: RE: Canadian Mudcat Meet: Ormstown Quebec-July From: Beer Date: 03 Jun 07 - 11:09 PM Folks..... Manny of you have been p/emming me on information regarding the festival, giving me support during the house fire I've had and condolences on the passing of mum. I truly thank you all. Now it is time to celebrate. I have been working on this festival since last September and i finally can see the light at the other end of the tunnel. I know that many would like to come but there are always obstacles to overcome and sometimes it just takes a little push. So here is hoping you all make it. Subject: RE: Canadian Mudcat Meet: Ormstown Quebec-July From: ragdall Date: 02 Jun 07 - 07:26 PM adrien, I'm coming from "north-central" British Columbia, along Highway 16 until Winnipeg. I only know the way as far as Winnipeg. From there I hope to find a route which will allow me to stay north and avoid large cities as much as possible for the rest of the way. I shall be travelling in my 1978 station wagon, most likely alone. I plan to sleep in the car at rest stops or at provicial campgrounds as this will be a very low budget trip and the fuel cost will eat up most of my resources. I'm looking forward to the "Free camping" (in my car) and hot showers at the festival site. thanks, rags |
Subject: RE: Canadian Mudcat Meet: Ormstown Quebec-July From: Beer Date: 02 Jun 07 - 06:43 PM Thanks Gnu for those kind words for the line up. I also think it's pretty good if not damn good. Hope you can make it. God help me if it turned out like Woodstock Bobad. If it does I'm disappearing. |
Subject: RE: Canadian Mudcat Meet: Ormstown Quebec-July From: bobad Date: 01 Jun 07 - 07:08 PM I hope you can make it gnu, if not you may be missing one of those momentous happenings like Woodstock. |
Subject: RE: Canadian Mudcat Meet: Ormstown Quebec-July From: gnu Date: 01 Jun 07 - 06:53 PM I saw earlier today that this thread was closed. I guess it was a slip of the keyboard. Glad to see it's back. As for me, I am still wrangling with some things that I just can't seem to get wrangled, so, you may have to be missing another Bodhran player. Hey, don't all weep and wail at once, eh? BTW, I am wowed by the lineup! For anyone who missed it, like me, it's here. |
Subject: RE: Canadian Mudcat Meet: Ormstown Quebec-July From: Beer Date: 31 May 07 - 07:12 PM Like last year I will be flying out to Newfoundland for their Festival July 30th. or the 31st. so I won't be much help to you. But There is still plenty of time for something to be worked out. Will be good to meet you all. Beer (adrien) |
Subject: RE: Canadian Mudcat Meet: Ormstown Quebec-July From: Susan of DT Date: 30 May 07 - 07:50 PM Since Dick Greenhaus and I are planning to go to Ormstown and then the Champlain Valley Festival in Vermont the next weekend, we are thinking about staying up North for the days between. Are there any mudcatters in that part of Canada or nrothern New England that would like us to visit them during that week? |
Subject: RE: Canadian Mudcat Meet: Ormstown Quebec-July From: Beer Date: 29 May 07 - 10:03 PM Thanks Ragdall, much appreciated. In answer to your previous post, I may have jumped the gun in taking personal reservation. Because of the extra burden on the volunteers it may not be a good idea. I'm still working on it and hopefully will come to a happy medium. However in your case I guess it is to late. May I ask where are you coming from and will you have someone with you? Please p.m. me and I will help in any way I can. Beer (adrien) |
Subject: RE: Canadian Mudcat Meet: Ormstown Quebec-July From: ragdall Date: 29 May 07 - 02:17 AM Beer, Congratulations on being able to move back into your living space. That's a long time to sleep on an air mattress. rags |
Subject: RE: Canadian Mudcat Meet: Ormstown Quebec-July From: bobad Date: 27 May 07 - 08:40 PM Haven't seen Raptor, the originator of this thread, around for a while. I hope he will make it down. |
Subject: RE: Canadian Mudcat Meet: Ormstown Quebec-July From: Beer Date: 27 May 07 - 07:54 PM (continued) Now it is like moving in a new home. Hang this, touch up paint there and so on. Will get back to you folks who have p.m me and asked question on this thread very soon. Beer (adrien) |
Subject: RE: Canadian Mudcat Meet: Ormstown Quebec-July From: Beer Date: 27 May 07 - 07:49 PM Off the beaten track for a moment. Just to tell you we have moved back up stairs two night's ago. The good lady and I have been sleeping on air matress and 3foot wide cot since Feb. 8th. |
Subject: RE: Canadian Mudcat Meet: Ormstown Quebec-July From: ragdall Date: 26 May 07 - 11:02 PM We could have reserved the tickets without paying? They told me I had to send the money. It's in the mail now. Peace, You are the main reason that I want to be there. I love your music and would like to see and hear you playing in a festival setting. Peace fan, rags |
Subject: RE: Canadian Mudcat Meet: Ormstown Quebec-July From: Sorcha Date: 25 May 07 - 09:29 PM I had sorta planned on it, but with all the Stuff lately, I just can't. You may have at least one vistor from UK tho....she's working a local festival this weekend. |
Subject: RE: Canadian Mudcat Meet: Ormstown Quebec-July From: Azizi Date: 25 May 07 - 08:56 PM As to the question who's coming from south of the border, I would if I could. But I'm sorry that I won't be able to make it. |
Subject: RE: Canadian Mudcat Meet: Ormstown Quebec-July From: dick greenhaus Date: 24 May 07 - 02:45 PM I'm generally friendly, though. |
Subject: RE: Canadian Mudcat Meet: Ormstown Quebec-July From: Susan of DT Date: 24 May 07 - 08:29 AM I think Dick Greenhaus deserves a better listing than that of my friend - he is better known here than I am. |
Subject: RE: Canadian Mudcat Meet: Ormstown Quebec-July From: CET Date: 24 May 07 - 05:58 AM I don't think Peace is close to being the most disliked Mudcatter. Perhaps he thinks that now that Martin Gibson has left us, he must be the natural heir to the throne. Sorry, Bruce - you've got a long way to go. So who's coming from south of the border? Edmund |
Subject: RE: Canadian Mudcat Meet: Ormstown Quebec-July From: C. Ham Date: 23 May 07 - 08:11 PM I'm really hoping to make it. Chances are about 90% that I'll be there but I won't know for sure until the last moment. Despite what Peace thinks about who's the most disliked Mudcatter, the Bruve Murdoch concert is the single major drawing card for me. |
Subject: RE: Canadian Mudcat Meet: Ormstown Quebec-July From: Mooh Date: 23 May 07 - 08:06 PM Oh well, it looks unlikely for me. Have a wedding gig in Nova Scotia the previous weekend, and will be back to Ontario midweek but between work obligations I can't see how I could make it. Have fun without me! Peace, Mooh. |
Subject: RE: Canadian Mudcat Meet: Ormstown Quebec-July From: Beer Date: 22 May 07 - 07:28 PM And away we go...... 1) Charmion & Friend 2) Susan of DT & Friend Who is next? I will only announce the mudcat handle that is being used and will mention Husband, live in, boy friend, girlfriend and so on as "Friend" for I really don't know the relationship involved. |
Subject: RE: Canadian Mudcat Meet: Ormstown Quebec-July From: Beer Date: 21 May 07 - 10:39 PM There will always be asshole Bruce. The folks who plan to come are music lovers. Let those who want to be negative be negative. They will never change. We just won't give them the time of day. Were here for a short time but a good time. Those attending are coming to have that good time. Disliked by some but loved by most. |
Subject: RE: Canadian Mudcat Meet: Ormstown Quebec-July From: Peace Date: 21 May 07 - 10:27 PM Beer, not wise. I am probably the most disliked person on Mudcat, so you aren't doing the festival any good by sayin' that, IMO. I realize you gotta do what you gotta do, but I have to do what I have to do, too. See you in July. |
Subject: RE: Canadian Mudcat Meet: Ormstown Quebec-July From: Beer Date: 21 May 07 - 09:42 PM I guess it is about time to rejuvenate this thread. For you folks who have said you are coming I would like to inform you that advance tickets are now on sale. If you would P.M. me with your "Real" name I will make sure that your ticket is waiting for you at the gate entrance. The cost is $10.00 for Saturday and $10.00 for Sunday instead of $15.00 each day if you don't make reservations. Damn cheap to here some great musicians like our very own "Peace". Don't forget Friday night is "Mudcat Jam" and is free except if you want to throw something in the hat. Time to start planning your trip. Oh!, let me know how many will be in your party. www.ormstownmusicfestival.com Beer (adrien) |
Subject: RE: Time for a Canadian Mudcat Meet From: Rapparee Date: 26 Mar 07 - 09:47 PM Well, I'd be there but I can't make it. Oh well. If only I didn't have to w**k.... |
Subject: RE: Time for a Canadian Mudcat Meet From: Susan of DT Date: 26 Mar 07 - 08:24 PM Beer I see we never answered your question. We are in New Jersey. It looks like Ormstown is just off the top of the Northway (I87) in NYS, That sounds like a long, but easy trip. |
Subject: RE: Time for a Canadian Mudcat Meet From: Susan of DT Date: 17 Feb 07 - 09:00 AM As Dick said, we will try to make it. It is the wekend before the Champlain Valley Festival in northern Vermont, so we will make one long trip out of it. Others may wish to include Champlain in their plans. It is also a camping festival. www.cvfest.org |
Subject: RE: Time for a Canadian Mudcat Meet From: Beer Date: 16 Feb 07 - 09:22 PM Thank you Bee for your kind thoughts and suggestion. Dick and Susan it would be great to have you come along. Room for everyone. Bring your Banjo. Where would you be coming from? Beer (adrien) |
Subject: RE: Time for a Canadian Mudcat Meet From: dick greenhaus Date: 16 Feb 07 - 07:35 PM susan and I will try to make it. Sounds like a fine idea. |
Subject: RE: Time for a Canadian Mudcat Meet From: Bee Date: 16 Feb 07 - 11:41 AM Beer, having been through a nasty apartment fire (and no tenants insurance, so a total loss), I deeply sympathise. A tip: the place I put salvaged stuff in storage dumped bags of cedar chips over everything, and in a month it took the stink out of clothing, upholstery, books and papers. |
Subject: RE: Time for a Canadian Mudcat Meet From: bobad Date: 16 Feb 07 - 10:44 AM I can confirm that the ECMA (East Coast Music Awards)are being televised on CBC on Sunday. There was a lengthy article in today's Ottawa Citizen mentioning that fact and also describing the music scene in Halifax, from whence the awards will be hosted. It appears that the music scene is going quite strong in that relatively small (300,000 population) city. Some quotes from the article: "You have a really strong singer-writer movement going on in the city", "Halifax is like a little Greenwich Village", "There are quite a few places where they really believe in the emerging artist" Good news for the east coast music scene and for music in general. |
Subject: RE: Time for a Canadian Mudcat Meet From: Beer Date: 16 Feb 07 - 09:12 AM As Ron Hynes is scheduled to do two sets at the festival I though I would paste the following. Ron Hynes has been nominated for the following ECMA awards: Recording Of The Year; Songwriter Of The Year; Male Recording Of The Year; Entertainer Of The Year I believe it will we on T.V this coming Sunday evening on C.B.C. Will check later. Beer (adrien) |

Subject: RE: Time for a Canadian Mudcat Meet From: Beer Date: 14 Feb 07 - 10:02 PM Hay, Bobad, take care of the blue click for me Please. I also think that I will take Bobad's suggestion and start a thread in the B/S section about the gathering. Bobad felt that the festival thread was getting more respondents in the B/S threads than moving it to the top. I also agree so i will start one below and ask that participants come up to this thread. Subject: RE: Time for a Canadian Mudcat Meet From: Beer Date: 14 Feb 07 - 09:52 PM Damn, the web master was not suppose to release the line up before tomorrow evening's meeting. So if you go to www.ormstownmusicfestival.com you will get all the folks that are playing plus a few pictures. However, stay tuned because I still have a few items up my sleeve. To be approved at the meeting then on the web for you to see. beer (adrien) |
Subject: RE: Time for a Canadian Mudcat Meet From: Beer Date: 09 Feb 07 - 09:55 PM Good thing I'm not drinking or you would all have me in tears. They ( some company I can't even pronounce the name.) came about an hour ago and removed all our clothing . From bet sheets to g-strings. The fellow in charge said that it looks that at least 85% will be a write off. there is some fancy machine now taking out the stink till next Tuesday. Friend of mine coming tomorrow do do an estimate for the insurance to rip and reconstruct the up stairs. Any way, things are starting to move. Yes we are staying in the house. But it is ( how should I put it.)I guess 2 houses in one. The part hit was built in 1860 and the second part probably 1920's. The one built later is where we have set up our sleeping quarters. it has the laundry room a small bathroom my music room and Judy's craft room. This will be home for a while. In the older section the fire was contained in the upper part of the house. The downstairs smells like hell but we can use the kitchen facilities. Again thank you one and all and to those who are sending p.m. I have said enough Christmas I'd like a drink of Scotch. Good night. Beer (adrien) |
