Subject: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Max Date: 28 Oct 06 - 09:54 PM Wow, weird stuff. Looks like we lost an hour or two. Looks like my server had the old Database cached. Should be better now, but we'll see... |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Bernard Date: 28 Oct 06 - 10:04 PM Oo-er! Seems to be a lot quicker, now... thought the Big Upgrade had happened... |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Bill D Date: 28 Oct 06 - 10:06 PM my total # of PMs just changed...along with people's names. I think an old database is still with us |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Max Date: 28 Oct 06 - 10:07 PM OK, I think I just got things... something-or-other. Should be closer to normal now. |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Ebbie Date: 28 Oct 06 - 10:08 PM I noticed that on mine too, Bill. Just reversed- 36 instead of the older 63. Thanks for putting all that time and effort on the ol' cat today, Max and Jeff. I hope there is a tremendous feeling of satisfaction for you. |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: GUEST,Jon Date: 28 Oct 06 - 10:09 PM Looks OK form here this time - a nice job! |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: JohnInKansas Date: 28 Oct 06 - 10:10 PM Ref info? Found the Mudcat fixed thread and read okay. Posted to new New Firefox thread and confirmed post (link to older thread) Read a couple of threads. Next thread truncated load with message "Your cookie is corrupt" My dial-up connection failed (common, but not a 'cat problem). Reconnected, and got same "cookie corrupt" message. Reset cookie Found 7 or 8 "test messages" Test messages, and Mudcat fixed threads disappeared. My last post to new "New Firefox" thread disappeared. All seems to be working okay now. (?) (preview worked for this post) John |

Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Bernard Date: 28 Oct 06 - 10:10 PM Hah - I suddenly got an old PM from May 2005...! |

Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: bobad Date: 28 Oct 06 - 10:34 PM I note that the profiles and photos have resumed singleton status. |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Gurney Date: 28 Oct 06 - 10:38 PM I tried to contact, got a hard blues site. Three times. Later a message from Max. OK now. |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Big Mick Date: 28 Oct 06 - 10:40 PM I am showing 90 PM's. Shouldn't be anywhere near that, plus the names have reverted to older names i.e. Peace is Brucie again. Mick using IE |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Max Date: 28 Oct 06 - 10:41 PM Yes, there will be side effects. Update one pm (delete) and it updates the count. |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: GUEST,.gargoyle Date: 28 Oct 06 - 10:42 PM Line has been drawn in. But for awhile, your family white were showin.
Sincerely,

Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Deckman Date: 28 Oct 06 - 11:56 PM I'm missing several important PM's. Bob |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Deckman Date: 28 Oct 06 - 11:58 PM It looks like the "Tales of Walt Robertson" thread is fixed and back up and running with the postings in proper sequence. That's a HUGE improvement. Thanks. Bob |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Big Mick Date: 29 Oct 06 - 12:00 AM Man, this thing is cruising in high speed. I love that the chrono order is restored. I just went back and reread what I consider to be Mudcat's original great thread, that being the Spancil Hill thread. It is nice to see it all back the way it should be. Search seems to working much quicker. BTW, Max, I really enjoyed cruising on your sites today while the Cat was down. Fun stuff. Mick |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Joe Offer Date: 29 Oct 06 - 12:07 AM I took a look around, and everything seems to be copasetic. I looked at several databases, and didn't see any duplicate entries. The SuperSearch Index hasn't been updated, but I know that's coming. I've heard from one member whose user name was changed back to what it was a long time ago, so I fixed that for her. Nice work, Max. I know it wasn't an easy job. -Joe- |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: catspaw49 Date: 29 Oct 06 - 12:23 AM Not only is the chrono back on track but when you search, you can click on the message and get the RIGHT message instead of something off another thread!!!! Life is good.......Or maybe just Penn State kicking the crap out of Purdue got Max in a happy mood. Thanks Max.....(and note that OSU buried Minnesota) Spaw |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Stilly River Sage Date: 29 Oct 06 - 12:44 AM The Mother of All BS threads has lost several thousand posts--it's a noticable difference. I hope they can be reattached somehow? Meanwhile, there are two of these truncated MOABs running below the line. SRS |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Rabbi-Sol Date: 29 Oct 06 - 12:48 AM It appeared as if Mudcat had been hijacked. Everytime I tried to access it I got automaticaly forwarded into a My Space site for a musical group called The Kazoo Repair Factory. Their music was acceptable but not good enough to be booked into my house concert series. Rabbi Sol |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Big Mick Date: 29 Oct 06 - 12:52 AM That group, Rabbi, is one of the ones that Max is in. Max is the owner of this site. He just rerouted Mudcat hits to it while he updated software. Mick |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Little Robyn Date: 29 Oct 06 - 01:31 AM Thank you Big Mick. I wondered if someone had hijacked the site. And thanks Max. Robyn |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Liz the Squeak Date: 29 Oct 06 - 02:53 AM Must admit, that was my first thought too.... then I got the same hit through the backdoor. I've just archived 18 PMs from my listed "5", and got 20 back! Little things like that brighten my day. Thanks Max. LTS |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: JennyO Date: 29 Oct 06 - 02:55 AM My PM total has changed drastically. Must be a VERY old database. |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Scooby Doo Date: 29 Oct 06 - 03:48 AM I have also lost 50 ish pm,can we have them back Max. Scooby. |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Mick Pearce (MCP) Date: 29 Oct 06 - 03:51 AM My active PMs (only 4) are there (as are my sent/saved as far as I can tell), but the count at the top of the Forum page isn't showing anything. Mick |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Richard Bridge Date: 29 Oct 06 - 04:03 AM As above for PMs - delete one and the count gets corrected (I just did it). If all your PMs are too important to delete, either paste one out and save it as a word document or similar, then do as above, or get a stooge to sent you a trivial PM and then do as above. |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: George Papavgeris Date: 29 Oct 06 - 04:10 AM My name reverted to El Greko too, but I just corrected it manually. And a PM I sent last night disappeared from my Messages Sent; no hardship. Cheers Max! |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: SussexCarole Date: 29 Oct 06 - 04:26 AM I've been having troubles with pms not arriving for a while now. Is this related to yesterday's problems?? |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Dave'sWife Date: 29 Oct 06 - 04:31 AM OK.. I never even knew El Greko had changed his SN. Shows you how far behind the times I am. I'm still having troule coming into the threads section ut if I click on login, I can sneak in sidewise |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Doug Chadwick Date: 29 Oct 06 - 04:50 AM A thread that was working its way down the page has disappeared from the list on the Lyrics & Knowledge page. I can find it in my list of posted thread messages, and so can identify the time of the last posting. When I check back on the main list, I can find threads either side of it but not the one I'm looking for. I wasn't receiving any response, so I'm not much fussed about this particular thread, but what else has disappeared? I seem to recall something about Northumbrian pipes that isn't showing now! DC |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Sooz Date: 29 Oct 06 - 04:56 AM Gainsborough Folk Club's PermaThread has disappeared as well, Doug. |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Leadfingers Date: 29 Oct 06 - 05:26 AM Happy memories of the Post Getaway bash last year looking at Max's band website !! Hope all the snags are now sorted ! Well done Max . |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: GUEST, Topsie Date: 29 Oct 06 - 09:18 AM I thought my screen had been taken over by intruders but then I spotted Max's name at the bottom and worked out he was just offering us something more interesting than the apology screen while normal service was suspended. (Unfortunately I had the sound muted so I didn't know there was music as well.) |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Wolfgang Date: 29 Oct 06 - 09:24 AM The Mother of All BS threads has lost several thousand posts--it's a noticable difference. Hardly noticeable for outsiders I'd say Wolfgang (grin) |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Susan of DT Date: 29 Oct 06 - 10:16 AM A bunch of very old PMs returned - the tee shirt mail from May and June 2005. I went from 6 PMs to a reported 54. When I deleted one, as suggested above, it went to 36. I did not count to see whether there were 54 or 37 before. The message count on traced threads went down. So something is still a little scrambled with an older version. Thnax, Max, for working so hard for us. |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Rasener Date: 29 Oct 06 - 10:22 AM This ain't funny. I now have all the pm's right back to 2003. I spent hours going through and deleting them (around 400 mainly to do with Market rasen Folk Club) Ah well I will just leave them there. Not doing it again. |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Nigel Parsons Date: 29 Oct 06 - 11:23 AM Anyone still showing the wrong number of PMs, need not delete one they need, or get a mate to PM them just for deletion (as suggested above). The system will allow you to PM yourself. This can the be deleted to rectify the count. CHEERS Nigel |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Amos Date: 29 Oct 06 - 11:31 AM MOAB has all her posts it seems but the counter only says 8700. Dunno where it is drawing that from. A |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Hamish Date: 29 Oct 06 - 11:40 AM Well I dunno, but it was hi-jacked by a band's website last night for me. Weirderer and weirderer... |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Rasener Date: 29 Oct 06 - 11:41 AM Well I have all the old pm's that I once deleted together with my current ones. So whats happened their. I have deleted a couple of PM's but the number hasn't gone back to the number it was a couple of days ago. |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: fat B****rd Date: 29 Oct 06 - 02:28 PM I was feeling left out until I checked my PMs and found about a dozen from 2005. Just deleted them and carried on. What a brave little soldier I am. |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: treewind Date: 29 Oct 06 - 02:32 PM Apparently not hijacked, deliberately redirected by Joe/Max/whoever while the real Mudcat was down. Not the best plan though - redirecting to a static page on another server somewhere explaining what was going on would be less confusing. Anahata |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Amos Date: 29 Oct 06 - 02:33 PM That wasn't a hijack, as I thought also -- it was a redirect while Max was implementing the upgrades. A |

Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: John O'L Date: 29 Oct 06 - 05:39 PM The Kazoo and Tambourine Repair place? Nice music. I will go there again. |

Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Herga Kitty Date: 29 Oct 06 - 05:53 PM I was away yesterday, but came back today and couldn't get in even as a guest - just a message to say my cookie was corrupted. I guess the modification I'd made to my membership details to replace old with new e-mail address had been lost. Seems to be OK now though. Kitty |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Sandy Mc Lean Date: 29 Oct 06 - 07:59 PM I got a PM from a year and a half ago. I wonder where it was hiding all thie time? Somewhere is someone is watching us? Great job Max! Sandy |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: GUEST,Richie Date: 29 Oct 06 - 08:11 PM I tried to find an earlier thread "Bay Rum Blues" and searched but it didn't appear. It's still there but not in the search engine. Thread is---Lyr/Origin: Bay Rum Blues Someone may want to fix this. Not trying to bitch, just letting you know. Thanks for everything you do, Richie |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Jeri Date: 29 Oct 06 - 08:34 PM Richie, maybe Max put the indexing of threads for SuperSearch on hold while he was changing stuff. The thread's only 6 days old, and maybe wasn't previously indexed. It comes up right away in the 'Filter'. I got the corrupt cookie message and previously deleted/archived PMs too. All better now. |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 29 Oct 06 - 08:46 PM The Other 99% and the Kazoo and Tambourine Repair Company were great fun - thanks to Max for letting us in on them. Some fine music in there, and lots of nice pictures. And some links I'm going to have great fun exploring. So I've put in a link to them for anyone who missed them this time. |

Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: Ella who is Suze (cancelled) Date: 30 Oct 06 - 06:37 AM I am just back from the kazoon repair centre, and had me muffler fitted...... lawks and grin ;-) but am still in some sort of Bemudcat triangle and space time continumumunumumanum. Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: GUEST,Jack Campin Date: 30 Oct 06 - 10:40 AM Redirecting to the Kazoo and Tambourine Repair Company was NOT fun. Being part of MurdochSpace I wouldn't have knowingly followed a link to it, and when I got there it took forever to load (as all pages on MurdochSpace do with the browser I normally use). |
Subject: RE: Whats Up With Mudcat From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 30 Oct 06 - 11:51 AM No problem for me loading it with either Firefox or Opera. Or Internet Explorer either, though I don't normally use that. You sure it's the browser? |
