I'm surprised no one has started a thread on this yet. (Maybe they did and I am just overlooking it.) Enolia McMillan was the first woman president of the NAACP.

I don't know a whole lot about her, and the NYT obituary is pretty sparce--but how many women, let alone Black women, obtained a Masters degree from Columbia in 1933. She was a powerful force for change in the USA, long before Brown vs BOE.

May she rest in peace.
