Subject: RE: BS: halloween greetings From: Severn Date: 31 Oct 06 - 05:36 PM I've got questions for you all.... If you run over a ghost with your car on purpose, is it considered a "drive-thru"? If, as I was brought up to believe by growing up reading The Phantom on the funnies pages, "Ghost Who Walks cannot die!", is the converse also true? I'm in a quandry..... |
Subject: RE: BS: halloween greetings From: gnu Date: 31 Oct 06 - 07:29 PM Boohoo! Only had 9 tonight. And only 5 were little kids... sniff. |
Subject: RE: BS: halloween greetings From: Donuel Date: 31 Oct 06 - 08:40 PM Severn: I have done about 15 Phantom comic book covers (updated to the war in Iraq) |
Subject: RE: BS: halloween greetings From: Severn Date: 31 Oct 06 - 09:02 PM You worked for Lee Falk and Sy Berry? If I ever want to know anything about the true state of African Affairs, I'll check directly with you! So, is it REALLY true that if they won't let your dog on an airplane, that all you have to tell them (with the ultimate in coolness) is, "It's not a dog, it's a wolf.", and they'll still all back up and let you pass, or did that get "updated" with the War In Iraq as well? The Washington Post dropped The Phantom a number of years ago, and I miss him. We could sure use his help on the Somalia thing.... I still use the phrase, "Old Jungle Saying". |
Subject: RE: BS: halloween greetings From: Stilly River Sage Date: 31 Oct 06 - 09:25 PM Play with this while you wait for the little boys and ghouls to visit your house. I had somewhere between 30 and 40 kids come by tonight. My ex said he had 3. He's in a neighborhood that a few years back used to have hundreds of kids come by. Times do change! SRS |
Subject: RE: BS: halloween greetings From: katlaughing Date: 31 Oct 06 - 11:13 PM Haha! Thanks, loved it!! There were only two houses, plus ours, on our whole street which had lights, etc. and answered to my grandson's knock (along with his great-uncle and mom.) We had about 10 kids in all. I guess most went to the great mall event, whatever the aitch that is! |
Subject: RE: BS: halloween greetings From: Mo the caller Date: 02 Nov 06 - 11:34 AM The other houses had people hiding in the dark, pretending they were out. Like they pretend when you allow yourself to be roped in to an envelope collection. I'd much rather they'd open the door and say No, you'd know where you were then |
Subject: RE: BS: halloween greetings From: Kaleea Date: 02 Nov 06 - 12:42 PM Fun message! If I'd known about it earlier, I would have sent it to some jammin' pals a few states away, who I know would have enjoyed it. I'll bookmark it for next year. |
Subject: RE: BS: halloween greetings From: leeneia Date: 02 Nov 06 - 01:17 PM We had 72 trick or treaters. Five people on my block were giving out candy - even the Young Guy who Never Says Hello. My lights consisted of two tasteful cascades, one string orange and one string purple. In the picture window hung a small white ghost with pink eyes. It was not the biggest display in town, but it proved effective. |
Subject: RE: BS: halloween greetings From: Mo the caller Date: 02 Nov 06 - 01:44 PM Oh, do you have special Halloween lights? We only have Christmas lights (fairy lights), though they'll start going up any day now. A friend of mine does turn off all the lights that show and doesn't answer the door on halloween |
Subject: RE: BS: halloween greetings From: Stilly River Sage Date: 02 Nov 06 - 02:43 PM I have a side door that we use all of the time, with bright lights beside it. Since I have dogs in the back yard now I turned off that light and the front porch got all of the traffic. The dogs were closed in the garage until the traffic stopped, but even so I didn't want people walking up to that side of the house and their conversations setting the dogs off. These two are generally okay in most occasions, but I've had animals in the past who were alarmed by the trick-or-treaters. SRS |
