But I'm sure we'd more likely end up with Steeleye, Fairport, Albion and the Wurzels.

Which lineup of these bands do you think should be shown? The Irish one shows the 'classic' 1960s Dubliners lineup, so I would suggest it should be:

Steeleye: original lineup with Gay & Terry Woods, Tim Hart & Maddy Prior and Ashley Hutchings

Fairport: the Liege & Lief lineup would be good, but it would be nice to include some of the later ones... hmmm, not sure about this?

Albion: a nightmare decision!

Wurzels: I suggest it should be Adge Cutler and the Wurzels, not the later incarnation of the group (even though they were more successful commercially). Maybe they could use the later lineup of Adge's group from just before his death, which includes Pete Budd, Tommny Banner and Tony Baylis.

Sorry, BM, didn't notice the sign that said "English need not reply".

I wonder if you could do that in an English thread and not hijack the Irish thread? Will they never learn?

Assuming you're wrong, Geoff, which four bands should grace such a set of English stamps?
I'd suggest Waterson/Carthy, Flowers & Frolics, Muckram Wakes and Brass Monkeys. But I'm sure we'd more likely end up with Steeleye, Fairport, Albion and the Wurzels.
OK, perhaps not the Wurzels. Oysters maybe....
Any thoughts, fellow flatlists?

You'd never get the English postal service to recognise our folkies.
Quack!

The Irish Post Office has issued a set of stamps celebrating our great folk groups who contributed to the spread of Irish culture.
Check them out here
