Subject: RE: Obit: Robert Altman, Movie Director From: Wesley S Date: 21 Nov 06 - 12:26 PM They aren't making them like Altman anymore. He'll be missed. Hollywood needs more original thinkers like him. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Robert Altman, Movie Director From: Morticia Date: 21 Nov 06 - 01:28 PM This makes me very sad, Nashville was one of my favourtitest movies ever, and most of his stuff was quality if one draws a discreet veil over Popeye. |

Subject: RE: Obit: Robert Altman, Movie Director From: Jeremiah McCaw Date: 21 Nov 06 - 01:56 PM "A Prairie Home Companion". He hadn't lost his touch. Sorry to see him go. |

Subject: RE: Obit: Robert Altman, Movie Director From: Joybell Date: 21 Nov 06 - 03:51 PM One of my very favourite directors. Never could get enough of his movies. Joy |
Subject: RE: Obit: Robert Altman, Movie Director From: mrdux Date: 21 Nov 06 - 04:23 PM He had a remarkable run of movies in the '70s (MASH, Brewster McCloud, McCabe & Mrs. Miller, The Long Goodbye, California Split, Nashville, 3 Women -- and a couple others I can't recall just now) that are still among my favorites. After enjoying PHC as much as I did, I was looking forward to what he was going to do next. . . Sigh. michael |
Subject: RE: Obit: Robert Altman, Movie Director From: katlaughing Date: 21 Nov 06 - 04:45 PM NPR had Garrison Keillor on, today, speaking of what it was like working with him on PHC...very sad, indeed. They also played cuts from some past interviews of Altman himself. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Robert Altman, Movie Director From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 21 Nov 06 - 06:34 PM Hee is what Garrison Keiller had to say on the Prairie Home Companion Site: Mr. Altman loved making movies. He loved the chaos of shooting and the sociability of the crew and actors — he adored actors — and he loved the editing room and he especially loved sitting in a screening room and watching the thing over and over with other people. He didn't care for the money end of things, he didn't mind doing publicity, but when he was working he was in heaven. That's the opening paragraph. Click on this to read the rest. |
