Subject: RE: Obit: cool (naturally!) snowflake site From: Alba Date: 03 Dec 06 - 11:12 PM "No snowflake in an avalanche ever feels responsible." Voltaire Lovely site Becky. Maybe we can figure out a way to mail you some snow and you can keep it in your Freezer! :) Best Wishes, as always, Jude |

Subject: RE: BS: Cool (naturally!) snowflake site From: Bill D Date: 04 Dec 06 - 10:20 AM somewhere I have a cartoon series where one guy is catching snowflakes and looking at them, explaining to his friend, "no two snowflakes are ever alike...". He does a few more, tossing each one over his shoulder.........then suddenly gets this stunned look on his face, turns, and makes this frantic leap back toward where he discarded the last one in a pile of 77,219,418 more.... makes you think... |

Subject: RE: BS: Cool (naturally!) snowflake site From: Donuel Date: 04 Dec 06 - 11:49 AM Many snow flakes are snow needles and do not have the 6 pointed structure. It seems to me that needles are more prevelent lately. Pollution effects maybe? |

Subject: RE: BS: Cool (naturally!) snowflake site From: Bunnahabhain Date: 04 Dec 06 - 12:35 PM Look at the physics section of the link at the top, Donuel. The shape of snow flakes vary with temperature and humidity. Needles are typical for air at about -5 C, and about 200% humidity. Very pretty though. |

Subject: RE: BS: Cool (naturally!) snowflake site From: Desert Dancer Date: 04 Dec 06 - 08:38 PM refresh I tried to make an ice cube spike, but no luck. I'll have to try a differently shaped container. ~ Becky in Tucson |
