Nonsense. Morrison was a canny poseur; saw a character to play and died doing it. Faux-menace and lyric idiocy and no proper bass player... a mediocre band that rode a good wave and have all been coasting since Morrison croaked. And that stupid noodling organ solo... no, that stuff was the fraudulent wing of sixties rock.

Nonsense - Jim Morrison is a stalwart of Sharp's and the singers' club in Foley Street; none sings 'Lady Chatterley' quite as well, and few have the wit, reparteee and general charisma of Jim. If it is his birthdya, then many happy returns to a fine fellow.

I visited his grave in Pere la Chaise, Paris, someyears ago. What an experience! You could smell it from the other side of the cemetery and it was piled high with flowers, books, poems...
