Subject: WyoWoman's bandmate; Camp Harmony ride? From: WyoWoman Date: 16 Dec 06 - 11:33 AM Howdy strangers: I know, I know: I never write; I never call ... I've been busy singing and writing and work-work-working. So I've been out of touch. The good news is, I've been making lots and lots of music in these years since I was a Mudcateer regular. And now, one of my fellow members of Checkered Past, the band I perform in with three of my best friends here in the Kansas City area, is going to attend Camp Harmony in the Bay Area at the end of the month and is looking for a ride from her hotel to the camp. I told her I bet a batch of Mudcateers would be attending and maybe I could hustle a ride for her. So here's her request, with an email addy to get in touch with her. She's a splendid human bean and one of the best musicians and song-writers I've ever known. She plays more instruments than I can list and I would love to download every song in her head to my brain. Here's the scoop from Martha: Duration and Time: I have have a ticket for the entire campout so would like to ride with someone who is planning on being there the entire time. In SF, I will be staying at a hotel at 590 Bush St near Union Square. Cost Sharing and What I'm Hauling: I will be glad to pay all of the cost of gas for the ride and some extra if need be. I will have a small suitcase and several relatively small instruments - a flute that will likely fit in the small bag, a fiddle and probably an autoharp. I have decided against bringing a guitar. If you can offer a ride, contact me by e-mail: martha.haehl@mcckc.edu I will also be checking this e-mail while in SF. Thanks, Martha Thanks for considering my request. Stay Tuned! WyoWoman |

Subject: RE: WyoWoman's bandmate; Camp Harmony ride? From: WyoWoman Date: 16 Dec 06 - 01:50 PM Thanks for fixing my link, Mike. I used to live in Wyoming and wiled away many happy hours slogging around here in Mudville. Then I moved but decided to keep the recognizable name. Besides KansasWoman didn't have nearly the ring to it. Sorry to disappoint you re. the trail ride though. --ww |
Subject: RE: WyoWoman's bandmate; Camp Harmony ride? From: Joe Offer Date: 16 Dec 06 - 01:56 PM So, Wyo, when you find out how wonderful Camp Harmony is, maybe you can come next year. I live beyond Sacramento and always have a hard time getting there on time for my kitchen duties the first day, so I can't offer to stop and pick up your friend on the way to camp. After camp ends, I'm one of the last people there because I have to make sure the kitchen is clean - if your friend has no other way home and doesn't mind staying to the bitter end, I'll be there to make sure she gets home. Wish I could offer more, but the kitchen calls me. -Joe Offer, King of the Mop- joe@mudcat.org |

It sounds like all is well which is good to hear. I'm afraid I can't help out with the ride as I live in the middle of the Pacific. |

Subject: RE: WyoWoman's bandmate; Camp Harmony ride? From: GUEST,.gargoyle Date: 16 Dec 06 - 08:20 PM America has some splendid BEAN connections
Some are Eastern/Bostonian - molasses/maple/onion
Some are SouthWestern/Spanish - peppers/cumin/onion
Both will make you cry.
Sincerely,
If you looking for harmony on the West Coast - it is probably "Pizole" made with pork and similar to Menuedo (not the Band) they are both, best served with optional sides of onions with oregono, cilantro, lemon/lime, and hot dried chili peppers. |

Subject: RE: WyoWoman's bandmate; Camp Harmony ride? From: WyoWoman Date: 17 Dec 06 - 12:04 PM Hello All -- Martha has been to Camp Harmony before and she also attests to its wonderfulness, so it is for sure on my radar. Multiple members of my family are having serious health challenges this winter, so I'm needing to stay close to the home place. But next year... no, REALLY ... Three of the four members of my band will be performing and playing around at the PHoenix Folk Phestival this spring -- March, I think -- so maybe I'll run into some 'catters there. 'Spaw, I sent you several emails but they kept getting bounced, so obviously, I don't have your current address. PM me and let's get back in touch. Ditto Alice -- I was just thinking of you this week as I was madly casting about for an illustraton for a story. Joe -- I'll let Martha know she can get a ride back if she doesn't mind sticking around for KP. She's a heckuva hand in the kitchen. ;~} Garg -- Words escape me. If any of you know of anyone who is going to Camp Harmony, would you pass this request along to them, in case they aren't visiting the 'cat right now? Thanks -- ww |
