Well the time has finally arrived for me to go into hospital for the gall bladder and 'mass' to come out. I go in tomorrow to get stablised and then they operate on the 21st (so need positive thoughts for that day please). I will be on a high dependency unit for up to 5 days but they have promised me they will try to get me out on Christmas Eve rather than Boxing Day. All depends on how the heart stands up under the op.

So, Catters, wish me luck and I'll 'see' you all after Christmas.

Also, this will be the last time I can wish you all a very, very happy winter holiday/solstice/Christmas/Yule/whatever else you wish yourself.

Hi Mate, had it done a few years ago, I am sure "good Luck" is sueperfluous as Luck has nothing to do with it, So I wish you "Good Surgery" instead. and a speedy recovery (and beware of the PhysicalTerrorists, they make you sit up and walk and stuff,

Having worked in a hospital, i can tell you that the staff/patient ratio will probably be in your favor, since people don't usually plan unnecessary sojourns over the holidays, so you should be well taken care of. Good wishes? Make that Best Wishes!

I'm just about to leave for the hospital.

Many thanks for all the postings and I will take all your warm wishes with me. I'm actually quite positive about everything at the moment. It will be great not to have the pain and nausea and whatever this 'mass' is will be better out of my bod than in!

I'm still hopeful that I will get out of hospital on Christmas Eve, and if will power has anything to do with it, I will be. If not, we are going to have a late Christmas, and we are spending a lazy new year in Bournemouth with good friends.

Well, here I am at home again! I went in yesterday, spent the night on an insulin pump and drip. This morning I was prepared for the op, which was scheduled for about 10am. I spent an hour on a nebuliser, had an extra canula put in, given antibiotic cover and sat there and waited.

At 10.30 I was told that the bed in the High Dependency Unit was no longer available and they would have to reschedule. I'm due back in on the 2nd January. Ah well - at least I will have Christmas at home.
