Subject: RE: BS: Hawaii Five-O From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 20 Dec 06 - 09:34 AM "Hawaii Five-O" was a prime example of how great on-location scenery can overcome second-rate actors portraying one-dimensional characters acting out trite, hackneyed story lines. A show using the same characters and story lines but taking place in south Chicago would not have made it beyond the pilot stage. As they say in real estate, "Location is everything." |

Subject: RE: BS: Hawaii Five-O From: Mooh Date: 20 Dec 06 - 09:36 AM Bee-dubya-ell...You're likely correct, but that theme music would not have fit Chicago...it's the most memorable thing about it! Peace, Mooh. |

Subject: RE: BS: Hawaii Five-O From: GUEST Date: 20 Dec 06 - 09:46 AM The theme music for Hill Street Blues was much more superior. As far as location goes, the Defenders was class. Black and white, with the Big Apple New York City as the backdrop, those indoor shots of the courtroom were outstanding. |

Subject: RE: BS: Hawaii Five-O From: GUEST,Penguin Egg Date: 20 Dec 06 - 10:08 AM The theme music and the montage at the beginning was what made the series. |

Subject: RE: BS: Hawaii Five-O From: Wolfgang Date: 20 Dec 06 - 10:34 AM You may have missed the reason Shambles has for starting this thread as it was only stated in a thread you may not read. You can read his reason here. Wolfgang (wondering about the extreme measures Little Hawk has threatened in this case) |

Subject: RE: BS: Hawaii Five-O From: GUEST Date: 20 Dec 06 - 11:05 AM Little Hawk watches way too much American TV and reads too many American comic books. |

Subject: RE: BS: Hawaii Five-O From: Mooh Date: 20 Dec 06 - 12:45 PM Now I get it...putting the sham back in The Shambles. Peace, Mooh. |

Subject: RE: BS: Hawaii Five-O From: Little Hawk Date: 20 Dec 06 - 01:12 PM Of course, Guest! ;-) I live in Canada, and in Canada about 98% of all available media comes directly from the good old USA. In addition to that, I lived in the USA from age 10 to 20...very crucial years. Therefore I am, in fact, an amalgam of both American and Canadian cultural characteristics, and I think that's good. But why are you such a shrinking violet all time, nervously hiding behind anonymity? Why not come out in the open for once and show your face for all to see? What awful thing would happen to you if you ever dared to be so brave? |

Subject: RE: BS: Hawaii Five-O From: RangerSteve Date: 21 Dec 06 - 04:26 PM I watched it, but looking back on it now, I wouldn't bother if it came on again. Magnum PI was a far superior Hawaiian-set show. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Hawaii Five-O From: NH Dave Date: 21 Dec 06 - 05:27 PM Interesting you should mention Magnum, PI. Magnum was started after Hawaii Five-O went off the air to take advantage of CBS' Hawaiian production office, sets and locations left over from Hawaii Five-O. Dave |
