Subject: BS: Savannah Georgia From: hilda fish Date: 02 Jan 07 - 09:10 PM Here I am in Savannah Georgia USA and going to First Friday for Folk Music this Friday where Marce, Rebecca Holt & Ken Anderson and Cynergy are playing. Any Mudcatters going to be there? Any around these parts? Going to Charleston tomorrow - hell I am in the South! |

Subject: RE: BS: Savannah Georgia From: jimmyt Date: 03 Jan 07 - 08:07 PM I think you will find some good music down here in the south. It may take a bit but Savannah has an Irish Pub o2 two along the river and Tommy Condons in CHarleston is a decent venue with some IRish etc being played there nightly. It will take a bit of time but I think you will be surprised. I am in north Georgia which is actually about as far removed from the coastal georgia area as NOrth Dakota to San Diego. Lots of subtle differences here in the south but as I have found in every place I have ever lived, it is ultimately made up of a distribution of nice folks and jerks. |

Subject: RE: BS: Savannah Georgia From: catspaw49 Date: 03 Jan 07 - 09:36 PM I've always believed that there was a case to be made for creating new states based on cultural similarities and things that affect the folks living there. As Jimmy said, North Georgia has little to do with Savannah and gawd knows Columbia an other points inland have NOTHING in common with Charleston and Hilton Head. I propose a long narrow state called Coastal that runs 40 miles inland from Virginia Beach to Jacksonville. Then they need a state surrounding the lower Great Lakes from Detroit through Cleveland and Buffalo. Call it Rustansnow. Then maybe a state including Columbus, Ohio, Cincy, Indianapolis....call it Whitebread Boredom.......or maybe Euchre. Lots of possibilities. Spaw |

Subject: RE: BS: Savannah Georgia From: hilda fish Date: 03 Jan 07 - 10:18 PM Am I ever! It's all an education. Went to Charleston today and watched the Gullah ladies weaving. A man referred to my daughter in law and myself as "you two farn ladeees". Indeedy we are two farn ladees. I feel like a foreigner because I just don't 'get' a lot of stuff here. But then, why should I? Meanwhile looking forward to music - it's always such a connection. Taking my son and daughter in law along. Happy New Year to all. |
